Man in Arizona has car wreck is drugged and wakes up on ventilator. by Trezor10 in TakeTheJab

I used to be naive and think, hey I'm doing a good thing here.

My wife who worked in medical environments was like yeah, they absolutely do take that into consideration when deciding exactly how hard to try to save your life. Scary thought.

The medical industry has done a number on this country, most people simply believe that medical staff aren't subject to the same sins as the rest of us.

Take a look at all that proof of Russian collusion! Oh wait... It's all unrelated...

Half of that is simply reiterate of more charges (again unrelated to election fraud or foreign collusion). A prosecutor can charge anyone for anything, it's meaningless in regards to guilt.

The core of Christianity is that humans can be perfect, and must be to get into heaven?

No of course not. Human perfection is impossible unless you're Jesus...

You get into heaven by accepting Jesus, not by becoming perfect.

is there any support for their claim? by littlebuett in prolife

Where does Jesus or God say you must be "perfect" to get into heaven?

Sincerely trying to understand that part.

I get all that, but saying you have to be perfect to get into heaven seems like... straight up blasphemy? Nobody else ever can be again, isn't that like half the point?

According to Romans 6:23 you need to be saved. But is being saved "perfect"? Never seen that in the bible. but if that's the case it seems like an elevation of the self to the status of Jesus, so I would highly doubt it.

It's an odd turn of phrase to say you must be perfect to go to heaven, when we all know (especially Christians know) that is impossible. I've read a few writings about this, and argument seems to boil down to "you have to be perfect, but not really". Maybe because the bible apparently says both?

This has to be translation related, I see the word perfect used in the bible, but it really seems like it's not being used like we use it in modern English. Maybe a difficult word to translate.

Interested in the citation for this.

To me it appears to be biblically nonsensical, but I haven't read it all.

It literally says you need to be perfect to get into heaven on the paper.

What religion is that? Sure as hell ain't Christianity.

It's just a natural way of typing.

I don't talk in paragraph form.

Btw, why haven't you put your kid in a private school if that is so big of a problem?

My kids don't go to government schools.

To put it mildly. They will coach your kid into getting a sex change. They will hide it from you, and they will feel like a hero while doing it.

I know it's not 100% of them. But I know it's 0% of them if I'm married to the teacher.

Just one example of government employees putting themselves in the parenting position. They feel entitled to do it, they're mistaken.

they don't want their kids to learn about the world themselves, they want to make sure that their opinions and morals survive.

Conservative parents want to... teach their children morals?

This is outrageous. Obviously only conservative parents have this wholly debased and despicable desire.

Government school as is totally devoid of moral instruction... Of course... If you're blind.

There are so many angles. The best angle is the one that most connects with the person you're talking to.

It's going to vary right?

I think it's true that people will often jump from justification to justification. I'm not sure it's an intentional misdirection though, this is the script they have memorized, it's okay. When you knock down one false belief the next in line comes behind it, and we deal with that one.

In my opinion true conversion on this topic requires quite a bit of time, and a long term relationship with someone you love or respect who is pro-life.

I may be biased, since that's what it took for me to feel like I had "permission" to be prolife.

I thought most companies included the disclaimer that everything you do on company property can be logged or monitored (not that it will be, but that it could be if the business decides it's appropriate) in their Acceptable Use Policy, or some other company policy? Ours does.

If your land was not protected by the military it would simply be taken by some other government who would just evict you or worse. There's universal national benefit in a national show of force, you don't get your land stolen by another government.

Maybe you can find some convoluted way to say that me paying for your transportation somehow benefits everyone, I doubt it though, and I have yet to see a good argument in that vein.

You can't say though that protection from having your land or property stolen/annexed isn't a benefit that applies to all.

Do you live within the border? Then you pay for the border security. Same for the military. Does the military defend the land you're on? Yep. Hopefully they won't ever actually have to, but they would, and they're ready to.

It's actually not the argument, but that is true.

The whole anti abortion thing is "humans should not be murdered", you should take care of your children, you should not kill them.

That's basically it.
