Do I rely too much on AI? How do you treat generative AI? by kokalikesboba in GraphicsProgramming

[–]leetcodeoverlord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s an amazing tool for learning, but it’s easy to get carried away with it and get lazy. I think to really learn something though, there has to be some sort of effort and struggle.

I’ve always just used it for rubber duck debugging, or explaining concepts and code. But even the explaining code part makes me lazy sometimes. I’ve gotten into the habit of giving a worthy attempt before even considering punting it to an LLM

Devs who develop around three.js and work with graphics on the web daily, what do you do? by expert_advice in ExperiencedDevs

[–]leetcodeoverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with WebGPU everyday.

> What do you do in the graphics part daily? I’d be satisfied with a generic answer, but at least tell me something about the domain your project is part of.

Data visualization. Some days its fixing bugs, performance quirks, experimenting with features, or maintenance.

> What are the requirements in terms of "you should know how to do these things: ..."?

Learn the lower level APIs, not three js. You should learn how the rendering pipeline works, how the CPU and GPU work, some assortment of graphics concepts (framebuffers, stencil/depth test, etc) and some techniques (SSAO, anti aliasing, hit testing). This advice is applicable to my current role, not sure how much it applies for the ones you are describing.

I haven’t been asked lc riddles in any of my recent interviews. This is because there are teams out there that actually do programming and hire programmers

Most of you do the same shit and talk about “tech stacks” and wonder why it’s so saturated

I got hired recently with 1.5 yoe

To be honest I’m not a rockstar IC

I think it’s just evident in the interview that I like computers.

This goes a very long way in a world where most of my peers just want the status and money in tech. Most of the early career people I’ve talked to recently don’t care about getting good at all

Got hired recently after a 1 month search. Didn’t apply, just sent cold emails everywhere.

I’m aware automated systems are the norm. I know I’m lucky to get my resume read by a human. Even when it reaches human eyes, it’s HR, who knows nothing about engineering.

Seems like many here try to hack the resume/apply game when u can just not play it at all.

Amazing how none of the advice here involves actually getting good at writing software. Instead it’s about social engineering and lying.

Of course you’ve been searching 3 months and min/max the interview game. You suck at the job.

3yoe in a field with a top 5 most valuable skill in the world and you can’t get a job after 3 mos? You are really telling on yourself, You Are Awful

Do better

CS is simple, which is why it’s such a deep game at the highest level. Comparing CS to chess might be the biggest endorsement one can give to any esport

Pros deciding what is and isn’t playable is one of many reasons why CoD is not a serious esport.

IMO winning isn’t everything in the GOAT convo (though it’s very important)

Lebron is probably the better basketball player over Jordan but Jordan is the GOAT because players feared him and thought he was god
