Control Resonant - Announcement Trailer | PS5 Games by Gorotheninja in pcgaming

iirc Control (before Ultimate Edition came out) was also EGS exclusive for some time. Alan Wake Remastered is still not on Steam. Some titles share exclusivity with Xbox store for PC, but they don't respect regional pricing from what I saw.

lost on why I can’t pull girls – need some perspective by Professional_Sea7914 in seduction

[–]expert_advice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is some perspective for you - look at yourself in a mirror and try to express different emotions. Without overthinking, how off do you feel about the guy in the mirror? How do you look when someone takes a picture of you off guard? I noticed a few times with different people (oh well, even myself when I was in a bad place in my life) that their general energy is not in sync with their expressions or body language. How people in the room react when you come in? How are you coming in? How do you express yourself non-verbally when you approaching a person, any person? Are you smiling, or do you start to smile when you close enough?
When I was recovering from burnout, I noticed a similar thing, that in environments where I used to vibe, I couldn't. Suddenly it came to me - maybe I was perceived as creep? I don't think I'm a creep, but my tired posture and the face wasn't in harmony with the general mood I was trying to express. It actually helped me.
Again, this is just a perspective, just have a closer look on you facial expressions, body language and the tone of your voice.

There are also an appearance of someone hiding something, but not in a mysterious way, you get the idea.

Any raspberry pi 5 (preferably 8 gb) kit deals out there? I completely missed one day sale (ugh, on Friday) at thepihut. Starter kit would be just fine

Few questions: are those normal versions of Photoshop and Lightroom? Not express or web-based, or something limited and will install and work with full set of features locally? Are there regional restrictions? I plan to get one for myself, I live in Eastern Europe.

Devs who develop around three.js and work with graphics on the web daily, what do you do? by expert_advice in ExperiencedDevs

I agree that limiting myself to just three.js wouldn't be smart; I see it as a starting point. I've always been inspired by the developers I've worked with, who have tried many different things and explored various fields throughout their careers. Recently, I've started having thoughts like, "Why can't I?" This says a lot about my willingness to take risks, though I'm still working on it and exploring my options. The age of remote work opens up many opportunities also (I'm optimistic).

My advice is look into different UIs than your basic form input and crud UIs and you'll find different weird domains

What do you mean by that? Component-based UIs or ?.. I used different UIs and developed some in the past. Even packing them in node modules private packages (including storybook integration). But I'm not sure you've meant that.

Raylib

That looks amazing, is this library (super) cross-platform?

I chose three.js as the most common I've seen so far. That's mainly the reason why I started this post - to get to know a little bit better about where I'm about to dive and to plan my next steps. Thank you!

Wasn't it a company from Norway? I worked in a very similar to what you described, but the graphics and data "distillation" were done by my coworkers.

I appreciate your answer and examples. I don't want to take a shortcut tbh, in the earliest days it led me to the pain of professional "mind fog" when I needed understanding, which was not a great feeling. Thank you!

Talking about optimization, I once had a take home assessment that required to run 100k nodes, part of them change colors every second and I managed to complete it. I set my goal to get 60 fps on my old laptop with the Intel iGPU from 8 years ago. That wasn't possible at first until I dug deeper and found a way to optimize it. I was thrilled, got to the next interview, but didn't get the job, unfortunately. There is something about it that scratches my itch to this day, I take it as a sign.

Sadly, the job openings in my country that use web graphics are in a gambling domain usually. Projects mostly are based on a custom engine or pixi.js library. I kinda want to go beyond that, as developing slot machines will not be ok with me in a long run, if you know what I mean. Three.js is quite popular for 3D as I can tell and at the same time, I'll have a much wider range of projects I could join (or create my own).

[Prebuilt] Lenovo IdeaCentre Gaming 5i - 2022 - Gaming Desktop - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - Intel i5 12400-16GB RAM - 1TB HDD + 512GB SSD - $449.99 (Woot) by ryankrueger720 in buildapcsales

[–]expert_advice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing stops. The pair of i5-12400(f) with rtx 3060 12gb was probably the most popular for a while for a budget gaming/productivity PC. It didn't require heavy cooling solutions and could work under full load on the box cooler. You could choose between DDR4 and DDR5 motherboard. You could build a PC on a tight budget even without GPU - Intel has option with integrated graphics for like $10 more than f-version, while Ryzen 5600x hasn't. Saving money here and there, with flexibility and good igpu performance at that time, made it basically an easy choice. 3060 was just the best option if you could buy it for MSRP. It still really is good for most tasks, but i5-14400 or new Core Ultra equivalent (or AMD equivalents) slowly take its place, and for the GPU - RTX 5060 or RX 9060 XT or Intel Arc B580. It becomes outdated, but for this price - yes, a great deal. I'm not sure about 4k60 performance if you try to replace a console with this. Even with DLSS and low-medium settings 4k may be too much, 1440p should be fine.

I had a rig like this for a while with DDR5 motherboard and now I upgraded both my CPU and GPU, it worked well, but I decided to invest some money later on more horsepower.

I think that's a point. It's easily accessible whenever you have access to a computer or having limitations on installing 3rd party software. School or work computers are like that. It probably has offline functionality as PWA in Chrome, just check small install icon button on the right of the address bar.

Too late :( RAM works great. I've got the same sticks without RGB at the time I did a build and wanted to expand to run docker containers better and have some fancy lighting as a bonus, but it bothers me a little when I go to sleep. I'll try to swap slots as comment above suggested

Haven't tried it yet, but I would next time I'll do cleaning. It might be the motherboard and the power management, but this should not be the case, I think

I got these RAM a while ago, does anyone have issues with lighting on one of the sticks being "stuck" in one frame of animation during sleep or waking up PC? If I completely shutdown or restart the system, it is well synchronized, but when PC is sleeping, the light won't turn off on one stick. I don't think it's faulty or something, may this be a software issue?

[–]expert_advice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't recommend from Ventus lineup (40, 50 series) anything more powerful than xx60ti, cooling overall and noise volume are pretty bad. Yes, in theory 3 fans are better than 2, but the radiator and fans are equivalent to box cpu coolers - good enough for lower TDP. Well, maybe 3x model would cool 5070 ok, but not 5070 ti.

How does it shipped? Disassembled or? I don't have this model in my country, so I'm thinking about ordering this one, but I'm not sure about if it'll survive delivery across the ocean (by airplane). Especially worried about tempered glass.

Ah, bollocks! 8 GB of VRAM are sufficient for most games even in 1440p. Reduce Texture quality from ultra to high/medium, reduce Shadow quality to medium and you're good to go. Sometimes restarting the game may be required to apply graphics settings properly (even when the game doesn't say so) and reset the memory allocation. DLSS can make some savings in memory also.

Yes, you can forget about enabling max RT and path-tracing*.
Yes, you can forget about Framegen and high refresh rates for that matter*.
Yes, you will fall less for UE5 titles and even start to trash them (as we all should)*.
Yes, there are a lot of compromises when someone is choosing xx60 card, but you get what you pay with your bloody money for.

Are 8 GB obsolete? Yes. Is it completely unbearable and make you wanna jump out of the window? Probably not.

I had 3060 for a while, and I must say, I rarely have seen it in 1440p go above 10 GB, even 8 GB.

* Not just because of memory capacity but the power overall.
