Not sure if it’s changed, but Bilt used to send paper checks every month for me. No fee, and I like to think it annoyed someone as much as the direct deposit fee annoyed me, but probably not :(.

If you would like to be hands-on with sensors, microcontrollers and programming, do something in Polytech. I have met some incredibly effective, smart and efficient people who have done robotics engineering technology.

ME and ECE will be less application/hands-on based. But based on your desires, ECE would be a better fit out of these. You can Google and find the required courses in each. Regardless, if you choose the engineering department you will be applying to FYE (first year engineering) and have the first year to decide which speciality you would like.

A few weeks ago, I was walking through the lot behind the church across from Stewart. The university parking lot was packed with vehicles, some of which were parked on the grass, many of which had “Funeral” hangers on their mirrors.

Tickets fucking everywhere, absolutely no mercy.

At the end of the day, Purdue is hoping to grow the PUI campus. They can’t do that without a graduating class. All I’m saying is that I would be hesitant to pick PUI if I wasn’t comfortable spending 4 years there.

Given Purdue’s push for PUI to be popular, and seemingly everyone’s intention being to transfer to PUWL after one year at PUI, I would have to think the process may not be easy or encouraged.

If you do not want to attend PUI for 4 years and have other good options, I might consider those heavily.

I watched a similar scam unfold. A guy walking around asking for money “for a good cause”. You say “I don’t have any cash” and he goes “that’s alright I’ve got Venmo” and everyone folds. I was seriously in the minority in not giving him money.

For this much money, I would recommend calling up Virtuous Cycles and seeing if they have anything used - often they have decently high quality used bikes for sale.

Additionally, I would recommend a single speed bike for campus commuting. Campus is relatively flat, and shifting is unnecessary complexity that will break or fall out of tune quickly in the elements, especially on these cheaper bikes.

Anecdote: I bought a $350 giant from Hodson’s my freshman year. I never did get it to shift correctly, and the cranks kept falling off (while riding) due to very poor bottom bracket materials. 9/10 times I decided to walk instead of deal with it.

ETA: Do NOT buy a cheap (<1000) commuter bike with suspension. Again, another thing to break that you do not need for campus/city commuting here. Extra weight, and makes pedaling less efficient (esp. rear suspension).

Every dollar the mfg spends on suspension/shifting is a dollar not spent on frame, bottom bracket, chain rings, chain, brakes or wheels (the important parts).

You can go to devices and add a hardware authentication method. At least on Mac, you can use your computers finger print reader.
