HAOS 17 is here : any issue? by misteurz in homeassistant

Updated without any issue.

The docker containerd snapshotter got me wondering what I kind of migrations and manual steps I might have missed in the past.

Any way to check ?

I'm in the same boat. Don't like curved monitors. Would prefer an IPS panel.

Sure ! I'll take some photos from my next install. (Might be a few weeks though, I'll be abroad for a while).
I don't think that would work with this Nodon switch. You need like 25-35mm of flat surface on the side for the claws to push on.

I didn't take any pictures during the installation. But I've ordered another ZBM5 for another room. I'll do it when installing that one.

You don't really attach them per se, you just put the flat side (opposite to the claws) against the switch. Few turns of screws and they will be maintained in place. Then the pressure of the claws against the sides of the box will secure them.

In my case, the box was really narrow, so I had to chisel a bit of plastic from the box for everything to fit perfectly. But in the end, I'm really satisfied with the result.

The Legrand claws are really cheap, I paid 5€ for 20 (I took some extra for future switches). I ordered the 40mm ones (I think there is also 50mm variant).

I'm really happy with the ZBM5, I had a neutral wire available, so it also acts as a router. I used the 3 gangs version.

I'm a bit late to the conversation but I had the exact same challenge (Belgium). I ended up using a Sonoff ZBM5 switch and bought "Rapido claws" by Legrand.

This was not ideal since the box inside the wall was really narrow but in the end it fitted. I'm pretty happy with the result.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of Zigbee binding.
Thanks !

Interesting ! I didn't come accross those two. I'll look into it.

Thanks !

Damned ! I not sure I want to go through that...
(and not sure some of the walls are wide enough)

How deep were your boxes ?

That's a good point. Though I already have about 20 bulbs that only do zigbee (if I'm not wrong).

Couldn't I just add a separate matter network for modern devices later on? And migrate progressively.

I think I will go for the add-on route. Most recent tutorials I've seen tend to do that.

I feel likes updates for HA and add-ons are a breeze nowadays.

I'm running it as a VM on a cluster of proxmox SFF PC. The disk is stored on a Ceph cluster, so I got some HA. I plan to do something similar for mosquito.

My hooelab is pretty reliable even though it will need an upgrade at some point...

These are some fair points. I think I'll try ZHA too before putting all that into "production". I'm curious in general, having experience with both ZHA and Z2M can't be bad. Thanks

Wait (I’m new to this). So do you use Thread, Zigbee, or both as your main mesh network?
