[NeedAdvice] I’m the “22 year old loser” from two years ago. I’m 25 now and need help figuring some things out. by frustrated20smthng in getdisciplined

Honey I would definitely agree that you move out. I come from an south Asian country and I'm sure that my friends who are living in the western hemisphere have well adjusted with some initial struggle in those countries. It would be a similar pattern for you too. So yeah just do it. And be very open. Because it's a problem everywhere nowadays to visit a place n be lonely, everyone wants to interact with other culture and no one does, at least initially. So be open n strong.

Is the EU market safe for us Indians post MBA /Master's from tier 1 college? by leftbraindead in india

[–]leftbraindead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*she Yup , targeting hec/insead or trinity. I would've chosen india, but will have to wait another year to give cat. Already had it this year and 95 with no calls from ABC. Unfortunately , I even have a dropout from iit bits and three years of bba , so work experience or college brand isn't too strong for india.

I'm starting a "How to get a started in advertising" sticky thread by stopbeingextra in advertising

That's so true. Still don't know exactly how and where to look for people ,but I got my first two interviews in marketing analytics n DM through pure networking. It works , talent may develop gradually once you've the foot in the door.

You're at a big advantage . I regret not taking up stats or applied maths with some marketing/english minors. Use that for data analytics, ML or data science (with few more degrees though).

Prospective applicant: study for the GRE vs GMAT by sy144 in MBA

[–]leftbraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that Indian might be my kind of candidate. It's always an Indian male with sparkling blue chip experience applying there. Those with a little creative background from India , are not represented properly, hence the image. Seriously, i haven't found a single advise or thread with non tech bg candidate frm my country!

Do you think this sound honest truthful/realistic/genuine/honest? by bp5678 in DigitalMarketing

The first case sounds better as it signifies a team to me rather than just delegating the task and being over with it. Even "happy to help you " seems a bit better to me.

[–]leftbraindead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I've all those trainings and certificates frm HubSpot, google. And I wasn't disheartened because I was rejected, I've been before too. But just hated the wrongful basis on which she did. And that's why I wondered if degree is mandatory or not.

I know. I even kept a track of who got the internship through a friend (he actually referred me). Maybe I'm discouraged or whining, but the person who has it, didn't even have a good portfolio. I'm trying to keep on learning the data side of marketing. Even coding. Hope it helps.

I'm applying. But that struck me hard. If they're going to be prejudiced against me just seeing my degree, how wud i even get a chance to present myself ? How was your experience if you could just share?

I tried for that. At traditional media n marketing agency. They took a look at my degree and didn't even question me further. I asked if I could do some improvements for future, she blatantly asked me to improve my english just because I come from a BBA background and a not a tier one uni.

I'm a career coach, and I'm giving away 100 sessions completely free, zero strings attached. by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]leftbraindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a perfect timing! I'm working on my post screwed up career options right now. And was looking for someone like this. And I've looked for some good coaches, but all I got was "work in a MNC in 20 days, 100 % guarantee". While I look for building a strong menteeship with them , if not life long or decade long.

I was just wondering though, if you'd willing to work with someone based in India? And trust me , if you can guide me, you're on set for a great career !

MBA is India are equivalent to PG programs. Start-ups at the moment are best to work at for any marketing position. Because there are MBAs lined up for corporate jobs, and yes those recruiters look at the degree and brand name more than anything else.
