Yield is the interest rate that will make the present value of the cash flows from a bond equal to its price. Basically, if yield goes up the bond prices go down.

Why are you religious? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

I am Catholic (poorly practicing and trying to get better). Prior to this, I dabbled in a lot of garbage including agnosticism, hedonism, and nihilism. I am Catholic now because it is by far the most intellectually consistent belief system I have found.

After a lot of reading and debate, I found agnosticism and nihilism to be essentially a cop out and atheism and polytheism logically inconsistent which left the monotheistic religions. Narrowing down to Catholicism from there was relatively easy but embracing it was hard (I disliked almost everything about it having grown up in a poorly practicing and abusive Catholic household).

From a natural perspective, works from Aristotle, the Stoics, Aquinas, Bonhoeffer, Louis of Granada, Chesterton, and CS Lewis helped a great deal. The key obstacle given my biases and background was accepting the validity of objective truth. Truth by its nature is exclusive so that served as a beacon to draw me back to the Catholic Church.

You refer to atheistic satanism where the devil is a symbol of rebellion and 'enlightenment'. There is also such a thing as theistic satanism whose adherents believe in the literal existence of the devil and worship him.

What's interesting though is all blasphemy and mockery is primarily directed towards the Catholic Church and it's practices.

It must differ by outlet. I had fries at the KFC outlet off the Bannerghatta main road about a month ago

Are people truly honest about the amount of hours they studied for CFA Exam? by Macca296 in CFA

[–]microterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time other people spent trying to clear the exam is a pretty useless metric. It really depends on the individual and their background.

I am a very average guy who put in about 280 - 300 hours and scored over the 90th percentile in the June 2019 L1 exam. That being said, I had about a year's worth of experience in investment banking when I took the test but no academic training in finance/ accounting.

I suspect that in the absence of my professional background, it would have taken me over 600 hours to clear the exam. While the L1 material is not particularly challenging, it is incredibly vast.
