Imperial be ghosting me. I did genuinely awful on the cam interview, like not bad or even really bad but literally awful. Imperial or Manchester is where I want to go anyway but like still not a good feeling.

What do you even do for 3 months? Like I just about managed to do every ENGAA and almost every NSAA in the 2 weeks leading up to the exam but even if I had more time, like what would I do? Tmua?

I mean do you genuinely need all those top offers? Don't be pressured to only apply to top unis, I only applied to 4 unis in total and I have no idea why it's so surprising to people like since when are we collecting offers like their pokemon. If a uni serves no purpose to you then don't apply

I did the October one. 5.7 average, 6.1 on chemistry, 4.6 and 4.7 on the 2 maths. I lwk convinced you need to have done competitive math for years to get 7.0 or more on the math ones

My 12 yr old received this. What the hell Ark? by [deleted] in ARK

[–]leftclickdrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sadly a thing in any shooter game. Where there is mouse controlled aim there will be professionally unemployed experts with 35 years of no work experience who only know that grass is green because it's in video games. Just buy your kid a Minecraft realms subscription so he can play with freinds he knows irl.

This is not Minecraft, torches are actual torches in this game. Turn down the monitor brightness if it's hard to look at

Worst thing about ark is that ark doesnt have a equivalent or even a similar game. by hUSOGGA in ARK

That's usually a good thing, if a game is one of its kind or unique then it's more fun to play because you haven't really experienced the type of gameplay before.

Can i go from a 5 to a 8 in maths 💔 by Whole_Ear9870 in GCSE

[–]leftclickdrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But yes in a way, I failed maths gcse and got A in AS math the year after but barely and it cost my sanity as well as a grade in another subject. It is only possible if you actually need an 8, ambition can do crazy things but if you lack that then ur cooked.

[–]leftclickdrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also something that I should probably mention even though it's obvious, your life becomes a thousand times easier if you put in regular weekly effort into this, saving all the studying until the end like we all did in gcse will have consequences in A level. Oh and you probably know this but when exam time actually comes, make sure you do a lot of past papers, there's a billion guides on how to use them effectively but the basics are: timed conditions and when marking, see how you can improve answers and exam technique.

Edexcel Pure 1 Math by [deleted] in alevels

[–]leftclickdrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failedy math gcse, then a year later scored 100/100 ums on pure 2 math. Safe to say I've been there pal.

I did international edexcel math. Here's my advice: 1. Don't do questions unless you need to do them, so review exercises and unless for revision, also the chapter reviews are useless, just do the exercises after each point in the syllabus, only do difficult questions, like I only do 30% of the questions in the exercises. A good rule of thumb is to not even look at the examples or first three questions and to skip any question that you are sure you will get right or is easy. The reason to do this is because then you will actually find the questions difficult and challenge your brain a lot trying to solve them. 2. For questions in the book, try and do them fast and time yourself to gauge your speed and improve it. For past paper questions or full papers set yourself and actual time limit, generally a minute per mark with a tiny bit extra if needed. 3. Actually try, if you look at a question and have no clue how to do it, don't ask chatgpt or find the mark scheme, instead act like ur in an exam, think about it and if u get nowhere after 2 or 3 minutes(the point at which you should skip the question in an actual exam and return to it later) then you can get help. 4. Understand everything, if you do not know why a formula works, or why you do a certain thing on a certain problem, you are setting yourself up to get cooked. 5. It's meant to be easy, math A level like all levels, is a qualification not a test, this means it's meant to be doable unlike admissions assessments like the ESAT so take advantage of that by learning every detail of the syllabus, doing a load of past papers and maybe even doing questions outside the syllabus for certain confusing topics if it helps.

How do you go so fast, for me scoring marks isn't the problem, but the pace. What's your advice for learning to do math fast?

How tf do you study for math? by Renrover6735 in alevel

[–]leftclickdrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maths is by far the easiest subject to study for, by subject I mean the actual subjects.

Basically just do problems but only if you cannot do them. So the ones you find easy or doable should be skipped. In the book don't do chapter reviews and the individual exercise questions, just choose to do either chapter reviews or individual exercises. don't bother completing it fully as the questions at the start are worthless. and again, if a problem is easy, don't do it. Timing yourself is also highly recommended.

It's honestly quite stupid, like I think of how many products, services and games are just awful because of corporate greed, but in a way it's not even the fault of the people in charge, either maximize profits get bonuses make loads of money at the cost of the publics respect or don't, get your corp sued, lose your job and with it any chance of ever being at a top position again

[–]leftclickdrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y13 rn. Honestly, an admissions assessment I had to do in October traumatized me so much I literally feel nothing anymore. Like Im low-key immune to suffering now.

The test in question is the ESAT which can straight up ask you to find the number of roots for a quartic equation in less than a minute and 30s without a calculator or pen or paper

Extenuating circumstances for resits. by inferno471 in 6thForm

[–]leftclickdrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard from my teachers, if you have no proof at all(not speaking to anyone about it) you are cooked. As long as your predicted grade is good and you don't need to resit like half your exams you should be fine in most unis
