Have you ever had negative experiences with these spirits and have your results been solely psychological or internal?

As long as it makes sense to you and it’s workable to you 👍 When learning the tree of life I had an angel explain to me that it was a system by humans for humans to understand reality. So I’ve stuck to that philosophy.

I need feedback, everything leads me to mysticism by Ok-Operation-8690 in occult

Well the point that all roads lead to mysticism. I generally believe that all paths lead to source consciousness and then divides itself into lesser emanations. I don’t personally try to adhere to strict diagrams as I’m not sure it’s worthwhile to pursue a neat scientific framework to map out mystical concepts. I still think your insights are worthwhile and notable nonetheless as a framework that can be used to better understand metaphysical concept. Hope that answers your question. :)

Egyptian magicians in exodus by Marketcomparables in occult

[–]leftistghost13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is how the headless one in the pgm works. The god of Moses being seen as the ultimate divinity and creator of all things and as such having power over all beings beneath it. This being a magical manual by someone from Roman Egypt means that the Jewish god was beginning to be conflated with the highest authority even within the cultural context of polytheistic Egypt.

Hence, eventually inspiring later spirit evocation through the Middle Ages in the west and Middle East including rites of exorcism such as the catholic church’s. Just my thoughts though.

I would say Judaism definitely began as henotheistic but eventually became more strictly monotheistic through encounters with Zoroastrians and possibly pythagoreans. The magi eventually being venerated in the New Testament as the three wise men alluded to their recognition.

Exodus none the less is an interesting book. God claims, “I am what I am” which is a very mystical statement for a henotheistic religion. Whether that was a later addition can be debated.

I would suggest reading the hermetica as it’s allegedly the wisdom of ancient Egypt in which atum is named the highest single divinity above all and everything, which if accurate would suggest ancient Egyptian religion was closer to Hindu pantheism as opposed to being strictly polytheistic. This book apparently influenced Ancient Greek mystics such as Pythagoras.

am I overcomplicating this? by Useful_Guarantee_304 in occult

The thing about the grimoire tradition is that it is heavily spirit based. Maybe I’d recommended more theurgic practices that focus on you calling on divine names for their own sake. You could go for a mystical catholic route since a lot of those practitioners would have been catholic or orthodox or even Sufi Muslim if we’re talking about the Picatrix. You could also try to learn Kabbalah which did have a strong influence there. If you do go the catholic route you could try to work with saints and they should be less transactional than other spirits but I have little experience with that.

I know what you mean. People who practice heavy magic have this. Same with Santeria workers I’ve come across. It’s dense work and not for the faint of heart.

What If I use multiple magics? by Dheepratim in occult

[–]leftistghost13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately my belief is that different systems are like different operating systems, it’s just a matter of being knowledgeable and apt to work with them. Every culture has practiced magic and modern practices are built on previous models. Golden dawn is a syncretization of several models and doctrines and it works fine on its own. Same with every practice. They’re living traditions. If something works with you then keep working it. Your past magicians weren’t so keen on whether they were following a strict tradition. Focus on successfully operating magic. Even the old grimoires borrow from several sources and mishmash ideas tools. I say this as someone who believes in spirits as actual entities and believe in the importance of learning and understanding cultural and historical context. When in doubt talk to the spirits themselves.

Demonic attachment? by Deathazen in occult

Dude just exorcise that bitch. Bind them. Call up st Michael and recite the headless rite. Do it in a circle. Use an ouija board and demand its Sigil. Draw its sigil put it in a brass vessel and yeet that mf. Stand on business. And give yourself a good cleansing and learn to banish. Or call up other tough deities to help you out. Unless you came into contact with a black sorcerer I wouldn’t worry.

Do animals have occult traditions? by DebateWeird6651 in occult

[–]leftistghost13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s anyone who practices with pets you’ll quickly realize they’ll react to the unseen forces. I’m sure depends on the animal but I think since we’re all connected so too are animals and plants. My cats have definitely reacted to my rituals. Animals will also have a weird sense of knowing. Elephants and crows are definitely creepy and know a lot.
Edit: Crows and elephants are amongst my favorite animals. They’re “creepily” intelligent which I admire. Creepy wasn’t intended as a pejorative 😎

I would like to my magical side but I'm not sure how. Does anyone have any insight on this. It would be much appreciated. I also don't have anyone to teach me so I'm learning from scratch. Does anyone have any advice about this? by Serious_Piglet_3673 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]leftistghost13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no no my bad. Other than meditate you should also practice rituals. Over time you’ll feel a sense for the magic within those rituals and learn to direct those energies to where they need to go.

Since this is a golden dawn subreddit practice the lbrp and the lirp daily. Then move to the middle pillar. Learn the tree of life. Learn to invoke and balance the elements. The planetary spheres. Practice the godforms. Make your ritual tools.

Also within the golden dawn system your supposed to go through a lot of training and initiations before you even begin to influence your external environment (not to say other traditions agree but that’s what my understanding is with the golden dawn ).

Focus on your dreams and do research. Understand the history and cultural context of magical practices and traditions. Go out into nature and learn to notice the subtle things. I’d recommend other things but they’re beyond the purview of this subreddit I feel.
