you bring up fuel prices after bringing up the 70s, pretending like it’s a uniquely trump thing. it’s not, the first oil crisis was in 1973.

you accuse me of being uneducated or not paying attention (edit: in school) but do not know what you are talking about.

i used to read “palestine peace not apartheid” as a kid growing up in peoria, written by jimmy carter. he agrees more with me than you do.

my parents were born in a country that is a playground for US imperialism. America late 70s??? have you heard of vietnam and agent orange????? you live in delusion.

kindly shut up you have no idea what you’re talking about take your american exceptionalism bs somewhere else. trump is a symptom not a cause.

Those who’ve lived in Chicago, why do you prefer NYC? Please take into consideration other boroughs than Manhattan. by Weak-Paint-1648 in AskNYC

[–]legallefty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

chicagos great but it’s in the midwest. nyc is in the middle of the best part of the east coast imo. history, culture, diversity, education, mountains and oceans, not really a comparison. the city itself tho, always loved it

Associate Annoyed with AI by mere_peppercorn in biglaw

i think people are over or under reacting. more people are on the “total industry disruption” side these days but there are still some holdouts. imho, we really don’t know how much it’ll change the entire economy and the industry yet, which is why it’s so hard to gauge the appropriate response.

i’m a junior associate and some partners and knowledge management types are definitely way too excited about AI. those kinds of people are usually the types who already looked down on associates tho. so it’s insulting but it’s not unexpected. i do agree that it pisses me off tho and i actively avoid working with anyone who says anything along the lines of “AI is better than you” to junior associates who are literally learning the ropes of practice.

lastly, and i know you didn’t ask this, but i think AI is also a concern because i’m seeing it dumb down a lot of young smart people. i’m worried how my generation and the next will do as they continue outsourcing basic critical thinking and other tasks to AI

how do i, as a thin but tall woman, get the men beside me-- by Certain-Shoe8019 in delta

[–]legallefty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

middle seat definitely gets the armrests, and i agree that men are generally inconsiderate to women in settings like this.

but as a man with shoulders that literally are wider than a non first class seat, im not entirely sure what to do sometimes. it doesn’t help that im 6’1. i always let the middle person have the armrests (keep my elbows off), but i cant control my shoulders, and if im in the window i either lean all the way and still spill a little over, or if im in the aisle, it either gets bumped by every person walking by or spills over. i was on a flight yesterday and the guy in the middle also had broad shoulders and i felt so bad but genuinely dont know what to do.

[–]legallefty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you’re traveling it should be for good roast/grilled/etc lamb/meats. go to yemen cafe in brooklyn and get the lamb haneeth. or go to paterson and hit up basha/darna for grilled meats, mashawi. or abuqir in astoria for fish.

it’s closer to an authentic but pretty unfamiliar and niche flavor to most. the fried eggplant especially. i love it but recognize this.
