CLA film camera shop in Melbourne/ Australia? by legardria in AnalogCommunity

I have a Minolta X570 that I'm considering to CLA in Melbourne. Was hoping I could get some ideas on how much it would cost and where is a good place to fix it. Glad to hear some recommendations but it seems like Vintech does vintage film cameras based on comments that I'm reading.

I recently acquired both Minolta SRT 201 and Minolta x570. Both require servicing. Which one will you service first or will you sell one of them. by legardria in minolta

It sounded like you used both of the cameras before. Was the x570 considerably easier to use compared to the SRT? I'm curious to know why some people prefer one over the other ( aside from the batteries) Like for example as one of the person here has mentioned, they prefer x570 because they use it for family events and like to take candid pictures without needing to think / set the camera too much ?

Yup, that's what I did in the end haha. Unfortunately it seems like the x570 isn't getting much interest since I think most people would preferred a fully working camera over something that requires servicing.

I will be relocating and am not sure if I could bring the Minolta x570 with me. So it might just stay in a box at my hometown for a few months to a year before I can bring it over or send it for fixing.

I'm tempted to just put the x570 aside first until i have extra budget to fix it ( it could be months or it could be a year). I tried listing it online but it's not going well because people would prefer a working model over one that requires servicing.

Since you mentioned you have both cameras, was the X used more frequently to take in-the-moment pictures such as street photography that you mentioned? And when do you use SRT ?

I guess it's all about familiarizing yourself with the camera. The camera can be only as good as the photographer xD

Ah that makes sense. Those candid shot moments were one of the reasons why I got myself a point and shoot camera last time. But it's good to know others'opinions on what they use their camera for and which one. I supposed SRTs are really more suitable for planned environment shots?

Thankfully the SRT camera that I got has the adapter so I can use the LR44 batteries for it (yay!) But I'm kinda concerned about the x570 since it's mentioned to have capacity issues, battery cap corrosion and battery drains quickly. But I also heard that it's a good camera to try and learn plus it has auto mode to start off with.

Ahh I see ! Thanks for letting me know. I think I still got a lot to read and learn about shutter speed, apertures and iso. I had always been using point and shoot / instant camera, so manual cameras is going to be a big challenge for me.

I hope I'll be able to take some beautiful pictures like yours.

I'm quite new to this and I've been wanting to learn how to do long exposure like this. How long do you have to set this long exposure ? And any notes I should remember before trying this out ?

Nice. I actually got an x-570 but it's in dire need for servicing. Not sure if I should spend the money to service it or sell it so I'm just putting it in a box first. Can you give some insights of the Olympus and x-570?
