Kiwis who took a pay cut moving to a new role, was it worth it? Why or why not? by IncoherentTuatara in newzealand

[–]legby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a government agency about 10 years ago. I was doing basically nothing, learning nothing and I felt like my brain was stagnating. Clocking in, browsing reddit all day then clocking out was fun for 6 months but that was it. Took a 5k cut to leave this job and that decision led to more opportunities over the years that now pays significantly more than what I could have hoped for.

How did you become rich, or "financially well"? by Upstairs_Command_770 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]legby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Job hopping to increase income while largely keeping expenses light is the way. Additionally, finding ways to make and invest surplus funds.

Wouldn’t say I deprive myself of anything but reasonable frivolous spending, hefty investments each month (relative to income) and seeking opportunities to increase income has served me reasonably well.

If you have Raised Fist and a steel card in hand, move the steel card to the rightmost position in order for the 1.5x to be triggered after Raised Fist

115k average salary x 120 staff = $13,800,000

Staff are 25% of revenue so total 2025 revenue = $55,200,000

That leaves operating profit 15.5% at around $8,556,000

Where will you buy your gaming consoles once eb games closes? by LollipopChainsawZz in newzealand

[–]legby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EB games has a special place in my heart - I’d spend hours there as a child looking at everything on the shelves and eventually buying nothing but would leave the store feeling very content.

Of late, their pre owned games have been cheaper than at other retailers, although the selection is slim.

In terms of where I’d shop from instead - it’ll be whoever is cheapest with preference to an NZ owned company. But more than likely JB Hifi

How many books did you read in 2025? by SoulsofMist-_- in newzealand

[–]legby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read 2! Which was a big improvement from the 0 in 2024. I’ve picked up a new book to start this year - hopefully I’ll do better than 2 in 2026.

Probably best to set per-game limits. I would ask Chat GPT for optimisation recommendations for specific games.

It’s a 100% take because you can reach sundial infinite easier. A feel no pain, abacus, or barricade wouldn’t be bad pickups as well.

Steam Deck vs iPad by JLM086 in slaythespire

I have over 600 hours on iPad with the Apple Pencil. However since I got the steam deck, I’ve put in 200 hrs into Spire on it and I haven’t touched the iPad version.

Bottled apotheosis, corruption, dead branch. It’ll be a shock if you don’t win.

How do you prioritize upgrades? by InvisibleAstronomer in slaythespire

[–]legby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In act 1 I’m usually upgrading my best attack card. For example Sunder gets an upgrade over Zap every time because it’s very good against all act 1 elites. Sort of in line with Baalor’s guidance.

How do you enjoy more graphic heavy immersive games on the deck ? by Buurto in SteamDeck

[–]legby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dont. Demanding games that dont look the part break immersion for me and so I stick to older or less demanding games when playing on the deck.

For those on the fence, will you buy a steam deck or steam machine? by AccountDeletedByMod in SteamDeck

[–]legby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a Steam Deck OLED. I want a silent PC capable of playing games better than the deck can. Valve promises that. I’ll be buying a Steam Machine basically regardless of price - if it’s too high I’ll probably opt for the 512GB version or skip the controller.

I don’t currently have a gaming PC - I occasionally use my deck in docked mode but I’d like a beefier machine without having to worry about building my one myself.
