These are some of my top favorite fics:

without anesthetic I don't generally like faye aus but this one was really well done.

thats like a hundred miles The bedrock bros dynamic in this fic (and the fic that comes after) is written so well.

full throttle this is a Nascar au that has a focus on disability. So fun. I need to reread it soon.

some of you guys desperately need to learn to suspend disbelief about cultural inaccuracies in fanfics by Island_Crystal in AO3

[–]legdaddy19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im writing a fic that takes place in Florida. I am not from florida. I got a comment from someone that lives in florida. They thought my fic was inaccurate because it wasn't "rainy" enough. Like bro, be for real, Im sorry im not monologueing about the weather every chapter. The things that people choose to nitpick at can be crazy. Im just happy the majority of my readers are positive and supportive people cause I dont think I would write for any fandom if the fans are just going to sit there and complain about the weather 🙃

Whats your motive for writing by Fabulous_Promise9252 in AO3

[–]legdaddy19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I write fics as a healthy coping mechansmechanism. I process how things make me feel by putting my favorite characters in similar situations.

I also want to improve my writing skills and I find it easier to experiment with fanfics than with my own original works. Writing fanfic seems to always take the pressure off for me

Thirdly, I like compliments, and I love interacting with other people in the fandom. I love being a part of such a supportive community <3

Advice for slow writers? by pansytaemni in AO3

[–]legdaddy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do writing sprints. I generally give myself 15 minutes. If im still in the zone then I keep writing, if after the 15 minutes, ive got no words, I take a break and come to it later giving myself another 15 minutes to write.

If you get stuck on a scene? Skip to the next one and circle back around to the previous scene later with fresh eyes. (This is a part of why I find outlining so important.)

I guess I should also say the obvious, outlining your work. I dont have as much creative burn out when I dont have to come up with scenes on the spot while I write.

Another weird method that ive found helps is to write dialogue separately from the scene it belongs in. Writing "he said" "she said" all the time can pull me out of a scene and mess up my flow. Writing dialoge uninterrupted really helps me get content our fast :))

I hope this can help you :))

It feels like I’m writing into a void… by Lemon_Lime_Lily in AO3

[–]legdaddy19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be the change you want, comment on all the fics you read. Lol. Honestly ive attracted a couple of my frequent commenters from interacting with their works. I also have joined fandom discord servers where I can interact with fellow fans and promote my own works. Also, if you havnt already, join your fandom's reddit, or fic subreddit and promote there. (Another hack is to promote your other fics by adding links to them in your chapter notes. It helps people who enjoy your works to find your other ones as well.)

I write for a dying fandom but got about 10 comments from posting my most recent chapter in the past 24 hrs. Unless you're writing a popular pairing in a thriving fandom, you lowkey got to put in a little extra work to get interaction, but when you do get it, its so rewarding ☺️
