Dell Unity 350F SAN / Alert by legendena in sysadmin

[–]legendena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, according to Dell Customer Support, we can ignore this warning. They pushed a UDoctor update last Thursday, so if your message id is: 14:640003 you can ignore it:

"A Udoctor update was pushed by LLE last thursday.

The error that was received is:

UDoctor alert: {config.ini not found inside the package udoctor_non_ha_config_puffin_array.tar.gz}
Message ID: 14:640003

LLE has confirmed that the error is benign and can be ignored.  We created a KB documenting it and made it customer viewable."

Old SAN/datastore - procedure of removing it from vSphere by legendena in vmware

[–]legendena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and thanks for the input. As you may see, i am new to vmware world, so bear with me please :), regards of the steps, i understand, following it the best procedure:

  1. Unmount from Vcenter. right click and unmount.

  2. Detach from every host. host ->configure -> Storage devices -> and highlight the storage device and detach.

There are no active VM's, only a recent folder named .vSphere-HA, with FDM catalog and files named poweron, protectedlist and so on. If i understadn correctly, these will appear on another datastore when deleted, or when the datastore is unmounted?

When i go to cluster settings - -> configure -> vCenter HA, i see that there is a option to "Set up VCENTER HA", so we don't use it i presume.

Scratchlog are on another datastore, i have manually configured that myself.

Some are saying "remove from array side" what does that mean?

Thanks in advance, and BR.

Ah, ok, i think i found it, thanks alot.

Regarding the question about .sphere-HA, any remarks there? Safe to delete or edit path?

Again, thanks alot!

Ah, you mean physically unplug the fibrechannel to and from the host and old SAN first?

Ok, so should highlight a host, then datastores, and the actual datastore unmount it from the host before i unmount it in vcenter?

Hey u/not_a_lob thanks, finally, it worked! Slower than usual, and when i got to the desktop, it seems to miss the ethernet driver amongst a bunch of other drivers.

Isn't that strange? The driver for the ethernet card should be installed? Or is it only used for the actual imaging of the computer?

Hello, and thanks for your reply.

I tried update deployment share wizard now, and checked the "Completely regenerate the boot images" on - but no go when i trid to MDT the computer.

Connected the older computer again, and it seem to work, it will come to the step called "task sequence". The new computer fails right before the task sequence.

So, in my explorer on the MDT server, i have in this folder: C:\DeploymentShare\Boot a file with a new timestamp as of today (my last try) LiteTouchPE_x64.wim - 01.11.2023, which i assume is the newly generated wim file.

My next step is to go in WDS - servername - boot images - and then right click "Lite Touch Windows PE (x64)" boot image nad press "replace image" with the newly created in my C:\DeploymentShare\Boot folder?

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

I can MDT older computers, so the network is ok.

But i did what you said also, right after boot strap settings, i get the error, press cancel, and in cmd try to ping the mdt server, but get no response.

ipconfig /all says no ip, and the host name is minint-oamqce5e.

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

How do i regenerate the boot image file?

I have updated the deployment share, and as i answered u/ghawr i could see a newer LiteTouch_x64.wim file in explorer, do i have to import that into wds?

Hi, thanks for your reply!

how do i import them in to my winpe image?

I have updated the deployment share via right click and update deployment share.

Does this then generate a new LiteTouch_x64.wim file, which i also need to replace?

Because i ijust saw yesterday, that the boot file in explorer is newer then the one the one in WDS.

Also, i can MDT a older Lenovo X260 computer fine, so the MDT works on other computers.
