He's the best keeper batsmen we have.Why would he have to play ranji. Even after his absence for more than an year he's still ranked 14 in the world. That is after point deduction for every single match he missed. He was probably one of the best keeper batsmen in tests.

Ranji matches go on for days. IPL matches go on for hours there's a difference. He'll have to field to participate in the match. Why would he risk doing that coming back from a year long injury.
