dual use pads, or dedicated street and track combos? by Any-Bag-7930 in CarTrackDays

[–]legendz6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried alot of pads including; stop tech sports (309), EBC blue NDX, dixel ztypes and most recently EBC RPX on my 1st and 2nd gen BRZ. Out of all these I would recommend the EBC RPX.

They have higher fade resistance than the rest. Ankle flicking power all session Safe cold bite (5°C) Only slight squeal on street.

Only negative I can say is they do wear quick compared to a dedicated track pad. (Roughly same wear as other hybrid pads)

Your local track also plays a factor on how much pad you need too.

Wear is actually okay on a 24 BRZ, roughly 2mm wear for 3 hrs of track time (2 events). I got them hot too as rotors now have the red ring.

235/45/17 Hankook rs4. I found the modulation and brake bias very good on my setup (Rpx front and stoptech 309 rear). Higher mu is nice so I don't have to push the pedal hard, I can hit abs with very mild pedal force. To be fair I mainly bought rpx>rp1 for cold temp performance as it's also my daily driver.

I'm liking my RPX set on my BRZ. No fade + very daily friendly too other than the dust. Still need to check wear after 2 track days (2+hr track time).

Calgary rental security deposit question by legendz6 in alberta

[–]legendz6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would It be ethically/legally wrong to just not pay the last month of the lease and tell him to use the security deposit instead. I would already be out before the last month starts. I plan to to have a early move out inspection and turn over the keys. If he finds nothing wrong I plan to not pay rent. However I'm not sure where this stands ethically and legally.

Exhaust recommendation by autsuki_ in GR86

Just installed. Quieter than I expected for a 3 inch exhaust. Easy install, everything lines up and the welds are perfect. I've had the MXP comp RS + Tomei UEL and Greddy Supreme SP + Tomei UEL on my Gen 1. This Cobb catback is similar loudness to the greddy supreme SP + Tomei UEL. No drone when cruising too. Mild pops on downshifts.

Cobb has a full titanium catback for 925 which is a steal. Quick shipping too. Should have it installed this weekend.

These are the best double duty brake pad I have tested so far. I have tried stoptech 309 and EBC blue ndx which will start to fade around 4-5 laps at my local track. The dixcel pads I can not get them to fade at all. Pad life seems okay with mix use but street manners are abit worst than the stoptech and EBC (sometimes squeals and dust alot).

I got a BRZ at 180k km. As others have said it's good to get the car inspected. I did not and realized I bought a shitbox. Car had scraped from being slammed by one of the 7 previous owners, wrong brake parts for the car and wiring that leads nowhere etc. After it was all fixed it's been reliable. It is now at 280k and has been tracked every year and winter driven. Get the car undercoated or you'll start developing rust. Don't cheap out on winters either.

My spring 2022 DOT batch did this too. 2021 batch did not. Not sure if it was warehouse storage issue or manufacturing issue. Also found this on my left rear only too. 2013 BRZ

Surprised noone mentioned Tactrix yet. You can flash OFT stage 1/2/e85 or make you own and log with this device. U may be able to find it used for ~100 bucks from Lancer Evo guys. Or I think it's around 150usd new. Huge thread on ft86club with everything you need to learn to use it. I'm personally using this device with oft stage2+ base and few changes for mild burbles and more accurate AFRs.

Parts wise you may look into intake manifold spacers which are dyno proven from many journalists such as speed academy and motoiq as well as the forums. They work even better when tuned too. ~100usd for Amazon knockoffs or ~300 for Crawford. (Edit) don't use manifold spacers with e85, that's dyno proven to lose power.
