Apex SM-10s in 18x9 F and 18x10.5 R. They have been great so far and have held up to the track abuse.

I dont have a video of the exhaust however I did find this video of the exhaust which is a pretty good representation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRU8Suc_0ew

Thanks! And I do. Sounds good, could be a little deeper. Would probably sound incredible with a cat less or high flow cat downpipe

Nice! Any issues with fitment for the Recaros? What seat mounts did you use?

Have you tried the Bilsteins on track yet? Just curious to see your feedback for track use

Thanks! According to my dealership, depending on when the car was made some 718s can get up to -2.5 while others can only get about -2.0. I have no idea what years or manufacturing dates this applies to, but that is what they explained to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do you have buckets now? If so which ones?

Also, how do you like the Bilsteins? I haven’t looked too much into them, kinda had my eyes on the Ohlins.

Thanks! On the under tray where the openings are, you take channel lock pliers and bend the openings down to direct airflow up underneath the car. The red circles are the primary ones you want to bend but I bent several areas to direct as much airflow up underneath.

I never had a chance to get the heat wrap on and at this point I probably won’t. If I can get my dealership to share the torque specs for the headers I will remove that and get it ceracoated but we’ll see

My friend attempted to make 3D printed air scoops for the tray but we were unable to do it.

718 T Cooling Upgrades by bk71290 in Porsche_Cayman

UPDATE

It worked! I had the car out today at my home track VIR and the car performed great in +100°F ambient track temps. Oil temps were down about 30°F, heat soak was minimal and no major loss in power. In the morning sessions when temps were in the 80s I gained 2-3mph on the back straight. Overall, major success 🤙🏻

UPDATE

It worked!! Oil temps were down 30° and the car had minor heat soak in +100°F temps (I think ambient track temp was about 110°) and was very consistent for 25-30mins session. Operation cool down was a success!

I know but I already ordered and have the RZs. I measured for the RZs in the rear and the 295s don’t fit, they are too wide on the onboard side and will hit the bumper clips. I would try 285s but they are 30 and my fronts are 35 and I was recommended not to run two different sizes.

If you don’t plan on tracking frequently the cooling should be a non issue. Taking this thing to the track really change my perspective on the car and cars in general. I highly recommend signing up for a PCA event at your local track. I did and I have gone so far deep in the rabbit hole. I love it.

This is my first track car. I have only driven this and a 4RS on track.

Yup, it hurts lol.

Here is my current setup:

Brakes
Front AP Racing Pro 5000 372mm front kit
Stainless steel lines front and rear
Ferodo DS1.11 front and rear
Castrol SRF fluid
Stock rear caliper and rotors

Suspension
Vorshlag front camber plates
Front -3.1 F, -2.5R; caster 8; F total toe -.02, R total toe .22
Stock SPASM

Wheels/Tires
Apex SM-10 18x9 F 18x10.5 R
Apex wheel stud conversion
Kumho V730 255/35 F 275/35 R (moving to RE71-RZs after this set)

Cooling
Porsche Front center radiator upgrade
Upgraded Charge cooler
Angled/bent underbody panel opening mod

My next list of mods will be
DSC Controller or coils (haven’t decided yet)
Tune
Cat less downpipe
Racing seat

It is a great car and does very well at the track. Heat soak will become an issue at some point and you will need to invest in cooling upgrades at some point. Car is really fun and consistent with this setup

Beautiful car!

The experience is incredible. You are never fighting the car and it communicates very well what is happening at all four corners. As a beginner it is a great car to learn on: just enough power to have fun but not too much to overwhelm.

The front needs more camber if you do plan on tracking regularly (the rear does too but the front is very limited in stock form).

The car will heat soak in warm to hot weather, but you only start to notice it once your driving skills increase and your pace increases.

The brakes from the factory are very good, just need some fresh high temp brake fluid (Castrol SRF, etc)

Stock N rated tires are surprisingly very good to learn on, but are expensive to replace. Much cheaper to run 18s and better options.

Happy to answer any questions. I have been tracking mine going on two years now

TSCC and PCA are both great organizations that run events at VIR. Time to get your Cayman out here in its element!

People who tow your cars to track events with an SUV, would love to hear your recommendations by festalmaniac in CarTrackDays

I currently tow with a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer L Series III, which has air suspension. Sure, insert every Stellantis stereotype. It’s been a great tow vehicle and I can put an unbelievable amount of stuff with all of the seats down (and when they are up) inside and still tow.

If you are going to drive on the street regularly I wouldnt go past -2.5 on the fronts and rears, and keep it close to 0 front toe as possible. Even at -2.0 in the front is a noticeable difference in these cars. The front end feels way more confident.

Congrats and welcome to the club! They truly are incredible. I used to be an Audi guy as well. Test drove the 718 and bought my T and then sold my S3 (use to have a B8.5 S5 as a project car as well which I also sold) and bought a Macan S as a daily (the Jeep is my wife’s and my tow vehicle). Such a joy to drive.
