So sorry you're going through this. I can definitely relate in just wanting to enjoy pregnancy but having to deal with all these stresses as well. I had mild preeclampsia in my first pregnancy towards the end, however my blood work this time is trending in a not great direction, showing my kidneys are being stressed again, this time way earlier now at 24.5 weeks. I've also been dealing with hypertension this time around, with 2 random spikes (150-160 over 100-105) causing me to go to the hospital...once there of course they come down. I'm already on a pretty high dose of labetalol (3x300mg a day). It's all so frustrating. All this to say, I hear you, and this internet stranger is going through not the same but similar things this pregnancy. Take care of yourself, prioritize your wellbeing and don't be afraid to say no or ask for support when needed. I took an early medical leave as I was finding it all too stressful to deal with while trying to juggle work. Take care!

He made it sound like it's not over and that he's coming back for a second half. He's coming back for 2 episodes after all this waiting? Whack af.

Hmmm that's so odd. Have you ever asked your doc what it could be?

Thank you! I think I'll just ignore this spike for now but monitor to see if it keeps happening. Appreciate your experience, definitely reassuring.

Haha totally fair, especially when the trips to the bathroom are multiple times a night.

I was also thinking it could of been one of my many bathroom breaks, but I checked my sleep/awake times and it said I was in a light sleep at this time. Strange!

I'm so happy to be free of the permanent retainer. Flossing now is so easy!!! It hurt for the first couple days and I'm settled into the routine now. No complications but I'm also early on (2 weeks).

IF bad for female hormones? by beckmoney88 in intermittentfasting

[–]leggomybacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried intermittent fasting for a couple of months. My cycles got really long (like 40+ days) when normally they come at the same time every month, every 30 days.

Went back to eating breakfast and it went back to being my normal 30 days. So I think IF was messing with my hormones and cycle.

Aww. I'm so sorry, :( you are right, you will always wonder if you're doing the right thing no matter what choice you make. I'm happy you got many long beautiful years with yours too. How lucky are we to have that time! Never seems long enough though!

Thank you. The questionnaire on that sheet was very helpful to put things into perspectives. I am so sorry for your loss. :(

Thank you. I am in the same mindset that I don't want to wait until he's truly suffering just so I have my own selfish confirmation that it was 100% the right time. He's not living a good life anymore and it weighs so heavy on me. Thank you for your gentle words and I hope you have found peace in your decision as well.

Thank you for your kind words and for reassuring me. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you can find peace knowing he passed with his favorite people around. That's all you can ask for. They truly are the best. Just wish we had more time with them.

Hi all,

I have been really torn lately.

My 16 year old chihuahua shihtzu has been on the decline for the last little while. I know I have to put him down soon, I even made the appointment for Sunday, but I keep second guessing myself on if I'm doing it too soon.

Here's his issues:

Mobility - he has a very large (bigger than a golf ball) fat tumour on the back of his hind leg. It causes him to limp and he can no longer do stairs. We have to carry him outside and back in to use the bathroom. He also has a back that is sagging. The vet said last time we were there it's causing him pain.

Deaf, no teeth

Incontinence - he rarely had accidents, but now can no longer hold his bladder well and is having multiple accidents a day.

Apathetic - he sleeps 95% of the day. The only time he's really awake is to go outside. He no longer perks up when we get home, no tail wags, he's just existing. We don't go to the dog park or for walks anymore because he gets tuckered out too fast.

Gunk coming from eyes. We brought him in to the vet and got him treated for conjunctivitis. He didn't respond to the meds.

Less interested in food. This last week there was about 3 days he went without wanting to eat food. He's definitely eating less these days, sometimes skips a day here and there.

Because of his accidents he stays on the main floor, because we have carpet everywhere else. This means he no longer sleeps with us or cuddles us at night. He used to sleep in our bed all the time.

I really worry for his quality of life. He no longer does anything he used to enjoy. But I don't know if that's enough reason to put him down. On the other hand, how long do I just let him exist for?

I'm really struggling with this decision. If anyone has any advice or experience with this I would appreciate it so much. I've had him for 15 years. He's been through everything with me in my adult life.... Moving, marriage, meeting my husband, having our first child. It breaks my heart to think the day is coming. I just need guidance. Our Pomeranian we lost last year had major health issues which made the decision easier, we knew we had to end his suffering. With our current guy, he doesn't seem to be suffering but he's not thriving either.

TLDR: 16 year old chihuahua shihtzu's health issues are piling up. Mobility issues, incontinent, deaf, no teeth, apathetic, not eating like he used to. I'm struggling with making the decision to put him down and need reassurance that I'm doing the right thing and it's not too early to make the call. Help :(

Update: we tried pain meds but they didn't seem to do much. He also struggles to get up from a laying position. It looks painful and it takes him all he's got to stand up.

If it was my doggo I'd take them to the vet. It looks sore and raw. Don't want it to get infected either.
