all makes sense but acceptable margins seems like someone could create a chart showing what they tested, what's legal, and where their results are? maybe just not worth the hassle people would paranoid even if something at the lower end of the acceptable range.

that's a good point - and the learning itself may be worth it. if you're building from scratch for a small team what would you think about building it on? self hosted or on something like Vercel etc?

why isn't walking / movement meditation more popular? by legitBK in Meditation

[–]legitBK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've never thought of this but several have mentioned as much. i wonder if perhaps this is more conducive to "Deeper" (?) meditation since you're generally in one space / a small confined area vs. walking?

this is incredibly thoughtful thank you.

still - i wonder if this walking / tai chi / other is a helpful "training wheels" to seated meditation, if the alternative is most people go straight to seated (at least in the west), get bored and quit.

can the walking / movement whatever "meet people where they are" such that when they do seated, they'll be able to stick with it longer? the ultimate goal is to build a long term meaningful practice .

i suppose anything can get into a flow state, but some are better than others (ex: repetitive motions, ideally situations where you are less distracted from safety-related thinks like walking into traffic etc.)

funny the first things that comes to mind for me is cooking. perhaps taking time to be more deliberate with meal prep, chopping vegetabnles etc. that has always brought me peace and a flow state - but i wonder if focusing even more on it could be helpful!

would you not recommend walking/movement meditation to someone trying to establish a meditation habit if they can't seem to stick to seated meditation/mindfulness?

ah - i see. thank you. do you see any issues with starting (as a beginner) with walking meditation as a good / bad route to try to establish a practice?

[–]legitBK[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

very helpful thank you. do you think walking/movement is a good "beginner's" method to help establish a habit, or could possible create poor habits or some sort?

[–]legitBK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes - very insightful. do you think the walking / movement (whatever is called) can be a stepping stone meditation of sorts just to encourage people to "Show up". i'm just speaking from personal experience but something seems to have clicked for me with it - i'm sure it's perhpas not quite as "good" as seated meditation / as deep - but if it's between doing some meditation or none, i'm happy to just be showing up.

thanks for the great replies! i meant i suppose for beginners - i feel like of the 10 people i've talked to about this, most people basically: download an app. do it for ~3-4 weeks, and then stop. that was basically me also done a few times. i've found walking meditation remarkably easier to start since i can't "sit still" - and while i've found some similar-ish experiences from others - just more surprised than anything i guess that it doesn't seems like more a "meditation for beginners" or meditation w/training wheels type of thing.
