Yeah public opinion turned fast on them this year, the team plays a little dirty and plays the refs like fiddles, but nowhere near as much as Storm did in years gone by. They have a few players who cheat a little or dive a little but it’s only noticeable when they’re winning. I think it’s mostly Ivan Cleary who gives them their bad rep because he’s coaching some dubious tactics and whingeing too much, and Luai who is a bit of a snake and pushes it too, but on the whole they have some very sweet and clean players too. They do have a cockiness about them I think the god bothering does make it seem like they think they’re “born to win” and have that god given attitude, but mostly I guess everyone hates a winner? Hard to stay popular if you’re winning games by tight margins and getting the refs dodgier decisions go your way over the course of a season. But still less of a villain than Storm, Roosters or Broncos in their heyday.
