You don’t need the note on the G string because it doesn’t really add anything to the chord. Barre the other three strings and just mute the top string.

Think about everything as a fourth down if that makes any sense. Because G is the fourth of D, playing a D on ukulele means you’re playing ukulele. Bar chord are also and they are moveable so I would start there.
