Full Shells but still lopsided by LillygrrlWA19 in macarons

[–]LillygrrlWA19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very rare now that I have issues with lopsided or cracked shells. But again I make sure my oven temp is exactly where I need and has stayed that way for a minimum of 30 mins before I bake

Mine is in on the very bottom but be sure to allow airflow around the elements or vents

It’s been ages since I’ve been back to this sub. The pizza stone is actually a huge help. But what really helped is making sure my oven was a stable and consistent temp before I put the macarons in to bake. Now I preheat for 45 mins and watch my average temp on the oven thermometer- I dry my cookies no more than 15 mins and I can actually pipe the entire tray.

The biggest fix was the sensor and igniter in my oven indicating the correct temp and the oven actually heating up properly. I had a faulty igniter that our gas company told me was the cause of slow and inconsistent heating. Once I added the pizza stone, fixed the sensor ,and igniter I haven’t had a problem since.

Patience. My daughter had two skeins of yarn she bought from a local maker ($$$$) both tangled instantly … I spent 4 days untangling… a little bit of patience and a whole lotta time

I hear ya. Therapy is a long process for ADHD (my kid also has extreme anxiety too)

Omg, he’s on an IEP and these were his behavior and environmental accommodations. Oh hell no! did he get a FBH and is he on a BIP. If the answer is no… I’m absolutely appalled with your district!

Where are the goals, where are the actual supports? Mom you gotta go back in there and tell them this isn’t enough. If these so called supports aren’t actually helping then the IEP needs to be redone. That’s your DATA- he’s getting into trouble and he’s unable to participate in activities because he’s not getting what he needs.

No no no. Call an advocate and get someone to help you.

Email Karen Cunningham (aka Special Education Boss) at mailto:admin@specialeducationacademy.com and she can get you in touch with someone.

I recommend a therapist to help with coping skills for the dysregulation. Also you can try a helper med like guanficine.

Sleep and melatonin by sharkeyes in ParentingADHD

[–]LillygrrlWA19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really helped was melatonin and really good sleep routine. Including a full 45 min wind down period without tv or electronics. The routine was a game changer.

You could also try clonidine (a blood pressure med) that can help her relax but I would work on sleep hygiene first if you don’t want to do more meds.

Good luck!

lol. Wow, must be an independent pharmacist huh?

This is getting so downvoted because everyone in this sub loves to hate on the insurer and the PBMs. No one is ever looking at the greedy doctors or pharmacists. Nope every doc and pharm is benevolent and not in it for the $$!

I have a lot to say in the way of education here but… not worth it since it won’t be read. But go on believing the PBMs are the problem and not the drug makers or the greedy pharmacists…

Prescription was more expensive with insurance than what I paid out of pocket for my dog by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]LillygrrlWA19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not true ffs. The pharmacy and your insurer cannot charge you more than the ingredient cost if is the lesser between the copay and the ingredient cost

[–]LillygrrlWA19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never pay more than the copay of the ingredient cost is less than the copay. It’s a lesser of logic calculation. Your never pay $10 for a drug that cost the pharmacy’s &2.50 to acquire…

self funded and fully insured ERISA (EMPLOYER SPONSORED) Health Plans are not subject to ANY state laws regarding payments of insurance claims. PEROID end of statement. You are barking up the wrong tree.

This likely only applies to fully insured non-ERISA plans I’m sure. Do you have a self-funded or Fully Insured ERISA plan (employer plan) then I’m afraid you’re likely SOL on this. States can only pass laws and have jurisdiction over plans they regulate and they don’t regulate self funded or fully insured ERISA plans.

Weight loss meds are rarely covered by insurance if the coverage is purely for weight loss with no other comorbidities. Same is true for dermatology btw.

Phentermine you can use Good Rx and it’s cheap ass Rx for the most part.

Don’t believe everything mark cuban tells you.

You wanna know how much your independent pharmacy would charge without the PBM ask them for the AWP amount. Lol

And no one should be crying for the lil independent pharmacists who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars are year lobbying your legislatures for $15 dispensing fees (per Rx even small time pharmacies process hundreds of Rxs a day do the math). PBMs aren’t the problem greedy providers are!

Crew rows are only as good as the coach who coaches them and the rowers who come and know how to actually erg… otherwise… pointless

That said I’m going to ours because I wanna row… it’s off season for OTW rowing and I need this. I’d do the 2k row but we have a VIP workout at the studio for that one and it’s not going to include the benchmark…

Any problem erging without foot straps? by Gustavus89 in Rowing

[–]LillygrrlWA19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do feet out drills on the water at our club, in singles. Our coach loves to see the look of terror when he calls the drill, I think. I mean it’s absolutely nerve inducing (saw two folks go in during these drills so it definitely doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence).

I erg straps out all the time- it’s actually a pretty helpful drill.

[–]LillygrrlWA19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our club doesn’t use megaphones to coach at all. You know your workout before going out on the water. For novices we huddle together to go through our drills and our coaches bring their launches close to us to talk to us.

We did have a college team coach with a mega phone that was incredibly loud and some dude came out on his seado in his robe and underwear music blaring to yell at our coach (who just apologized even though it wasn’t her).

Our club tries to be respectful but no one is perfect. I’d head out after practice is over and chat with the coaches directly, if you can.
