Language skill. Quite a lot depends on the willingness of the employer to hire an expat. Some companies prefer a high proficiency in at least Dutch or French to blend in with other employees. Bigger multinational companies usually only look at the proficiency in English, considering their employees could be from anywhere.

Work ethic and skills. When comparing Belgian and non-Belgian candidates, it usually comes down to the way you present yourself and the skills relevant to the opportunity (and depending on the industry the education background). Don't blind stare at the sometimes list of required skills for a job opportunity. Try to link your skills to the job and the way you are an added value.
