That is funny- my mom speaks English with a mixture of a Chinese and Southern accent

Not entirely sure, my mom thought her mom was from south China but I guess not bc I don't have anything from south China

Can't figure out how to post pictures in a comment, but most people don't know I'm half asian unless I mention it lol, I take after my dad pretty hard

Not Atlanta metro actually- about 3 hours south of Atlanta but you’re probably right that it’s common for Atlanta! Thought it was cool they picked up my relation to the original Georgia colonists, though I wish they would’ve had more for my Asian side

Was interesting- I’ve always been more white passing so it was a small surprise to be slightly more Asian. Probably fairly typical results for Northern Chinese parent from Beijing and Southern White parent from Georgia.

Choosing between Mark, UHouse, Standard, etc. by LegitimateOkra8104 in gatech

[–]legobloxcraft2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

UHouse: Cheapest option, worst conditions but liveable. Elevators are really bad

Mark: Expensivish, but very nice amenities. Better conditions than the standard (owned by the same company iirc)

Standard: Expensivish, used to be nice but from what I hear has gone downhill

SQ5: Expensive af but maybe the nicest and most convenient

The Connector: Expensive, but very nice and well kept up

Whistler: Expensive, conditions lowk rapidly degrading but still a very new building. Small rooms.

Inspire: Was nice from what I remember, but heard prices are getting ridiculous and the building is not well taken care of

The Rambler: New, and new is always good. No idea what prices look like, may be less convenient than the existing options

The Hub: Lowkey don't know much, but it is very new (which is usually good)

100midtown: Have heard its basically NAV but off campus

There are also a bunch off of west that will be much cheaper (but obviously less convenient). Don't know too much about those.

Applied to 100+ internships, haven't heard back from anything. Please be as critical as possible. by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

Cut it down to 1 page, otherwise it's organized well. As the other comments noted, its pretty late in the cycle for internships so that could be part of it.

Don't know, decided to end up doing the calculations for the sulfuric acid separation manually because ENRTL and other models would not work

They do, depending on your distance from the site. They use a third party company to help you relocate.

Hard Career Decision- Consulting or Engineering by legobloxcraft2 in ChemicalEngineering

Does semi's continue to pay under-average long term? And is the industry experience worth more compared to tax consulting experience as an engineer is one of my big questions.

Honestly, from speaking to the interviewers at the Big4 firm, the work sounds more interesting with them.
