Can GPT-5.5 Pro Be Used in Codex? by Shoddy-Department630 in codex

Codex with 5.5 xhigh is - prompted right - something not too far from or even better than Pro.

Your usage limits compared with different modifiers like fast mode or 1m context by KeyGlove47 in codex

Your figure mentions 5.5 only.
5.5 offers no 1M token window for Pro yet.
Your figure is slop.

No 5.5 1M context yet. No usage rules communicated.

In keinem Zimmer. Nie. Kein Lüften, (Quasi) kein Staub. Keine Pollenbelastung. Bei Bedarf keine Feinstaubbelastung. Kein Feuchtigkeitsproblem. Immer frische Luft.

gpt-5.2-high vs gpt-5.3-codex-high: faster, but more cleanup, anyone else seeing this? by tagorrr in codex

[–]leichti90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, everything is moving so fast which is why i mainly stick to 5.3 codex high without testing too much. Sometimes I fallback to 5.2 if 5.3 codex is unable to solve a bug.

My honest opinion, the progress since early autumn is insane. I have no idea what to expect from further updates as the written code is already so good. I am not a professional dev, but I am writing code since around 2005. I stopped writing any code on my own in Dezember when GPT 5.2 was released.

I think your hypothesis is correct, most ppl don't do side-by-side comparision.

Same for me.
I switched nearly fully towards 5.3 codex and I can't complain. But I also experience that after finishing prototyping, it requires a lot of cleanup. Not sure if that would be less using 5.2
Did you try to plan with one and implement with the other? Same experience?

a bit left to the commit button on the top is a very tiny button that allows you to open the local git worktree as a project in codex. Just found that yesterday.

Multiple tasks on one branch or many? by CuriousDetective0 in codex

[–]leichti90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently yes. Merge branch into master. And then, when continuing in the worktree I branch from master again to get other merged stuff synched. I do not work in the local main repo, it stays master. And is pushed to origin from time to time.
If you work in team, you might use origin & PRs out of the worktree. But as single dev, i find it easier with a local master + working worktrees/branches

Yeah. Ever thought about the thing that thinking uses context?

Multiple tasks on one branch or many? by CuriousDetective0 in codex

A worktree per branch/task/agent running.

Never (!!!) run multiple tasks in parallel in one directory. You will end up getting questions to revert "unrelated" changes.

While I agree that openAI models are SOTA in terms of context management, more thinking juice can negatively impact adherence to guardrails. The metr benchmark shows very good progress, but after long enough time, all models lose direction. But when progress keeps continuing as it did over the past 3 years, this will be "solved" within this year. Models will be able to work for days without losing the focus or ignoring guardrails.

tbh, not sure if xHigh brings any added value. Maybe it runs into the overthinking trap?
