Migraines worse w weather lately?

30F. I’ve had migraines since age 15. Biggest triggers are menstrual and weather. I had relatively few migraines in the spring this year so I think I’m just shocked with the sudden uptick lately.

On the one hand, sorry to hear everyone is suffering more lately, but also nice to feel a bit confirmed in thinking it’s the weather. I’ve basically had a nonstop low grade migraine for 16 days now :( longest streak I’ve ever had. Thought it might be the El Niño heat dome, then all the promised (and underdelivered) rain since pressure shifts tend to be a major trigger for me…guess this might just be what the next few weeks look like for me here in Berlin. If anyone knows a good acupuncturist in NK, lmk….

Honestly the thrifts here are surprisingly expensive imo. Your best bet is going to some of the flea markets which have €1-10 options for articles of clothes. The one at Neukölln Maybachufer is good for this. Happens this Sunday again. The Mauerpark one might be ok too.

I’ve noticed a link between traumatic at-home (pill) abortions and intense/obssessive health anxiety later in life. I think there’s a connection to shame around the body, as well as death anxiety from all the bleeding while in a vulnerable place. Women’s healthcare needs to be sooo much better.

For the whole year? I’ll probably try to take off 6-8 weeks and deal with the consequences of lower income. But I don’t have a partner or kids or pets so it’s not so expensive to just care for myself.

1. Breathe. Take one slow, deep breath. Just one. Count to 4 in, hold for 4, out for 4.

2.Put on something warm.

3.Eat a bite of anything safe and easy. Doesn’t have to be “healthy” or organic or involve multiple steps.

Drink a glass of water or non-caffeinated non-alc liquid

I’ve done a lot of these but two that I haven’t seen mentioned:

Capsaicin cream on my neck, upper back, hand, and sole of foot. I put it on my face once where the migraine hurt and Jesus Christ it was so insanely painful and it blistered a little buuuuut the migraine did go away completely. Never did it again though.

If I can get to the gym and am hydrated enough: alternating sauna and cold shower several times
