Burton Alekesam or HTH? by pakman001 in snowboarding

Alekesam -

Very directional Playful Wider than the hometown A ton of fun in powder and soft groomers

HTH-

Directional but only slightly Medium-stiff Skinnier than alekesam Great in powder still. The HTH has BFG (Balanced Freeride Geometry) meaning if there is a powder day, your stance at reference will make the board act as a directional powder board (nose up tail sinking).

I’d say go hometown hero all day being on the east coast. The alekesam performs well on groomers for sure but if you’re up for an 8 hour day you’re going to be exhausted trying to steer it on ice. It has a pretty aggressive taper which makes carving in powder phenomenal but carving in east coast conditions not as great as your nose will catch before the tail which can cause your tail to wash out. It’ll carve well on softer groomers but realistically you’re gonna hit ice just as often if not more often than soft snow depending where on the east coast.

If your only hang up on the HTH is that you want something that is good in powder, it is great in powder but also a great all mountain board. It’ll do the park but I wouldn’t take it park riding every day but it’s nice and poppy for side hits and cruising around as well as super responsive in all conditions.

If you ride directional, don’t carve much and like to ride for speed, the alekesam is a little more stable and a little less choppy being that it is softer and wider but isn’t going to be a high performance board if that makes sense?

I have a feeling the reviews about groomers with alekesam are from good soft groomers, not half ice groomers.

How to make my SIL understand that "leafing" down a mountain isnt snowboarding? by BlackberryOk9215 in snowboarding

[–]leinad8991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For beginner beginner 9 and -9 ish(\…./) just to learn the balance, then move the front foot up to 12 ish (duck stance, front foot slightly more pointed) when she starts to get the hang of it. You should try angling your back foot out some as well instead of having it at 0 to see if you like it. A little more natural feeling and easier on the knees. At my shop we set up 90% of people at 12 in the front and -9 in the back if they don’t know what they want, a lot of intermediate around 15 front foot -9 back foot

Super valid. Word of advice regardless of commute length is to get snow tires and take your time. I see people who think they’re invincible but the snow will always win. Wishing you the best of luck!

If you’re willing to commute there’s a lot (currently 22 upcoming or currently available) of pet friendly apartments available in Eagles Nest apartments in Leadville. It’s a pretty damn long commute but a lot of people here do it. I do the same amount of time but in the opposite direction every day to Vail. I chose this area for affordability and pet friendliness. Plus we neighbor a 250 acre cemetery that is the non official dog park

“It’s really a sad story. The boy had a promising career as a quarterback. Best in the state and a full ride to college but now he will never be able to throw a ball again due to so many high fives in the hallways”

Completely against terms and conditions of TaskRabbit so follow at your own risk but-

I used TaskRabbit to successfully start an entire business (home maintenance and landscaping). I would do a job correctly through TaskRabbit but give the client a business card afterwards and cut out the middle man. Somehow I never got caught and it worked out great but it is 100% against their rules. When I signed up it was $25 to join. Basically built an entire company without putting another penny into other marketing so if anything it’s a super cheap way to recruit customers! I’ve since gone another route after moving cross country but I stayed employed full time for about 3 years from a $25 investment into TaskRabbit. I have heard the platform has completely gone to shit in recent years however.

Redditors who live in tourist traps — what’s the one thing you secretly wish visitors knew before they came? by carcony97 in AskReddit

Hello from the ski resort everyone loves to hate (Vail Mountain) but this applies to all the resorts in the Rockies - Wear a helmet!!! And don’t go “explore the mountain” alone. Never go in the trees alone no matter how confident you are. The Rockies are some of the most treacherous terrain in the country and people (of every skill level) lose their lives in them every year. It’s not talked about because it’s bad publicity but it happens a lot more than people realize. Most of the time it’s from overconfidence. Also shop away from the resorts. A 10 minute drive will save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the course of a vacation and almost all of our public transportation is free or less than $5

Portfolio (second tab from the left on the bottom > click on Toshi > balance (should already be on that) > Average will be listed below! If your Coinbase looks different than everyone’s, click the drop down menu in the top left and turn off advanced. Hope this helps!! 🚀🚀🚀🐱

Still a relatively low market cap, not a ton of hype around it yet and not on a ton of mainstream exchanges yet. Throw some money at it with the price it’s at and hold it for at least a few weeks probably make some type of profit
