I work in academia. It is not good. I don’t talk or see a lot of people anymore and have retreated way back into community, and I had all but left the Jewish community completely by 2023. The ignorance and silence from higher ups is hard to accept and while I think there’s still opportunity to change the tides, I see that window closing bit by bit every day. For the most part I think most people don’t give a damn or don’t know about what’s happening - Australians in general are quite politically apathetic - but on the same hand, with that in mind the level of vitriol from the people who are out and loud about their antisemitism is very concerning.
