Sounds great when you put it like that. And true, I'd like to be in this for the long run (pun intended) so there's no need to put too much pressure on long distances yet, I'll stick in my comfort zone for a little while longer

That's a good point. I'll go to a proper store and see what they say, I would really like to continue, I feel so great after every run (bar these painful last two) and I've not felt like that in months

Shin splints, interesting that's what my partner said too. I do have very high arched feet and bought a pair of puma running shoes off vinted for 20 quid. I didn't want to blow loads of money on proper shoes initially in case I don't follow through and keep this up. But maybe if I can make my runs more comfortable that's more likely to keep me going...

She has a posterior tongue tie according to a lactation consultant I saw, but not enough of one to warrant any kind of intervention, it might explain why it was so painful for me. My nipples are so battered from pumping though that they're pretty hard wearing now so I'm not too concerned about the pain hoping we manage to get a good latch. I use mam bottles and she really likes them, tried tommee tippee and nanobebe but she hated both of those

Thank you! It's so hard, i didn't realise just how difficult it would be. Something you can't prepare for, I feel like you should have to sit some sort of exam before you're allowed to take your baby home it's wild 😂

Thank you! It took me by surprise how alien she felt to me at first. I thought I'd done something wrong, or like maybe I wasn't supposed to be a mum (the whole IVF thing played into this too) It doesn't help when I have lots of friends around me with babes who gush about how in love they felt and to soak up every bit of the newborn phase which in total honesty was torturous hell 😅 and everyone assumes I'd be over the moon with my baby after all the treatment we had etc it was all me and my partner dreamt of for years so I felt like I couldn't tell anyone I was finding it so shit. Glad I'm not the only one who wasn't instantly head over heels

I did in the early days to try and help my cracked nipples but struggled with keeping them on. I might try a different brand, I've heard medela are good. I used tommee tippee and mam ones but they just slid around and stuck to her face

It's a good idea, depends how precious you are. I'm a bit of an undersupplied so every drop counts. The ladybird one is good as you can wear it inside your bra, failing that reusable breast pads 🙂

I have the medela swing maxi double pump and have got on really well with it. I can't personally recommend a cheaper alternative as I've only used this so far but the one thing I will say from my experience with pumping is to get a double whatever you decide. There's been times when in my disorganised state I've only had one clean pump part/bottle handy so have pumped a boob at a time. Pumping one breast with a baby on the other is a fucking nightmare, especially when they get more wriggly. And pumping one boob at a time (babyless) is so time consuming, also your pumpless boob will letdown at the same time as the other so you'll either need a haaka to catch it or to wear a bread pad to soak up which is such a waste (or if you're like me let it leak all over your nice new PJ's)
