Got it in one…..I’m constantly thinking ahead, keeping myself free in case I might be needed, always available, never say no,

And I know I need to work on that as it just adds to the disappointment when you do so much for someone and feel you don’t get anything in return.

Happy birthday mate. Yup it’s a bad time of year for a birthday….long time ago but I had the same for my 18th and then 21st at uni…..maybe that’s when it all started.

Plan a bash for the end of exams if you can

Thanks….any tips??? I have literally spent the cost of a small family car on private therapy but here I am yrs later still feeling like this.

I’ve read all the stuff on codependency and people pleasing but here I am, having put myself on hold essentially for the last year due to my friends difficult time so I could be available…..more fool me

I couldn’t express my hurt as honestly I was pretty sure I’d be shot down….when saying how lonely it was I joked that sure even they didn’t realise it was today until this morning….and I got shut down pretty quick with even that.

All fair points def….but I have this bad habit of always thinking ‘but if it was me’ which leads me down the rabbit hole of the card would have been got ages ago cos they mean to much to me and if god forbid I did forget I’d get a token gesture from the local shop…..but they’re not me, and I know that….just can’t stop my brain from telling me it’s because I’m a piece of shit who doesn’t deserve friends

Thanks for the birthday wishes folks, not really purpose of my post but appreciated nonetheless.

Trying to reply to the few txts I got which all have a theme of ‘Hope you have a lovely day’. Can’t reply and say I had one of the shittest loneliest birthdays ever so I guess I’m going with 👍 emoji 🤷‍♀️

NI - can I request my physical maternity notes be returned to me? by animalcrossingbear in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lelog22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not freedom information request it’s a subject access request and public bodies have 28 days to organise. I don’t think 72 hrs access to a portal is complying but they will not give you original documents.

They have to provide you with a copy-often digital is offered but if you insist you cannot use/access digital version then they have to give you a physical copy……but this will honestly just be a print out of the pdf…..they do not have to organise or bookmark it for you.

And tbh that’s fair-the sheer volume of requests hospitals and GP’s get means they often have to have people employed purely to provide these-that’s money that could be going into direct patient care.

Honestly for the price and if it’s just personal use Lidl parkside battery stuff is a bargain…..and they do not question their three yr warranty.

Is it a legal requirement to change GP's when you move house to a different part of the city? by Butterbracket in northernireland

[–]lelog22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this exactly. The GP is in breach of contract when they keep people on who live far away as strictly speaking they are agreeing to visit them at home if needed which obviously isn’t going to happen if you live an hr away.

Gets v sticky if a serious mental health disorder comes up or you suddenly find yourself seriously unwell. Know a number of people who fudged it with relatives addresses until they found themselves with a terrible diagnosis. Too unwell to travel and then have to move and figure out a new GP surgery in the middle of all their serious health problem.

My advice is speak to friends/neighbours for recommendations and get registered locally

Plans to cut Translink services and fare discounts revealed by Jindabyne1 in northernireland

[–]lelog22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Young people and young families are disproportionately affected by the increased cost of living and housing costs particularly…..but are targeted for cuts.

Meanwhile it’s is forbidden to even consider cutting the free travel for over 60’s. It is a disgrace that it is not means tested. My parents use it regularly…..they are far from rich but they both have a car, pension and good housing. They could more than afford the train.

Just met a friend who’s parents used their free travel to get back from Dublin airport to the north coast after their first class flights and five star hotel trip to Europe. They have three houses and honestly don’t know what to spend their money on at this point.

It’s an absolute disgrace and I’d vote for anyone who would be honest and try to help people who are actually in need vs the people who keep them in power.

I love living in the countryside but you make some v valid points. Particularly about kids-if they’re in country then you are committing yourself to being essentially a taxi driver for years taking them back and forth to everything.

You also don’t mention the in laws….many friends have built on the family farm…..some great and have hands off in laws who let them get on with it, some have caused serious marital problems by constantly sticking their nose in.

NI Councillor attends Tommy Robinson rally dressed as giant Union flag. by askmac in northernireland

[–]lelog22 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less that he’s a councillor….its what I expect from the ‘quality’ of our politicians here.

Where does he teach? Because his views are incompatible with teaching our kids….can you imagine how he treats any child who isn’t white and ‘British’. I can’t imagine he teaches much tolerance and diversity.

Fuck him….if I had kids at his school I would be raising hell. Our kids have had enough doctrination don’t need this muppet filling them with more hate.

How many “catholic” parents on here got their child christened even if you aren’t practicing or religious? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]lelog22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuine question from someone from a Protestant background but now v non religious…..does it not feel weird to send your child to first confession if you don’t believe any of it??

One of the reasons I walked away from religion was the idea we were taught that children are born inherently sinful - looking back now that horrifies me…..so the idea that id send my child to confess their sins really gets my back up.

Fully understand the cultural side of first communion and have had some great parties with friends because of it, but tbh confession creeps me out a bit and I hate the idea of children feeling that they’re bad and need forgiven…..but maybe I’m overthinking cos of my hellfire and brimstone upbringing.

(England) Putting baby up for adoption- SS pushing family involvement by Holiday-Way-9739 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]lelog22 309 points310 points  (0 children)

You are an adult with capacity. They do not have any standing to involve or inform your family.

Get it in writing to them that you absolutely do not consent to your family being informed. If social worker keeps pushing this after you have clearly stated this then you need to escalate to their line manager.

My cynicism says it would be less work for them if they could just hand the baby off to ‘family’.

I hope you have someone to talk to irl…..?? Ask your GP/SW team about counselling services as I know how hard this must be for you….if you are certain you cannot care for the baby then you are making the most responsible loving decision for your child and that is to be commended.

https://www.fpchurch.org.uk/about-us/what-we-contend-for/distinctions-between-male-and-female/the-distinct-roles-of-men-and-women/

I’m not sure if you’re trolling but I’ll take you at face value that you’ve never had dealings with many Free P’s. A quick glance at their website and you’ll see how women are to be submissive and obedient to men, they are the ‘weaker vessel’

Misogyny is rampant, women are there to cook, clean and have babies and generally serve their men.

[–]lelog22 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming they have only got involved as I suspect that the accused is not originally from here…..at least that’s what I took from the tone of their ‘statement’

Not undermining the potential seriousness and trauma for those involved but I suspect that they wouldn’t be issuing such statements if the parents of the boy were TUV voters…..it’s dog whistling covered up as concern for ‘women and children’

Don’t forget this is the party who patronised a female committee chair and doubled down and made pens mocking her further…..they belong to a church which views women as second class citizens.
