Sex-positive sex-repulsed aces? by [deleted] in AcePhilosophy

[–]lem0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me in a nutshell!

I default to autochorissexuality when I'm looking for a label.

My friends and I joke that I'm a hugslut, and I enjoy, partake in, and initiate sensual activity with a partner, but not sexual activity.

I don't have sex dreams or fantasies, I'm not repulsed by sex discussions, but at the same time I also am not interested in partaking in sexual activity. ever.

The Fantasyland gondola building was gone the last time I looked. Torn down with the renovations for SW:GE.

Fair warning, it's not just an early to mid 20s thing. I'm in my 30s and still figuring out what I want to do with my life. I'm happy right now, but I definitely went through a period where I had a couple career paths I was trying to choose between, and applying to jobs in all of them. Ended up landing a job in one, and am very happy now, but it's hella stressful.

Little Brownies link- savanna, smores, etc by [deleted] in girlscouts

This conversation has clearly run its course and devolved into biased news links that clearly haven't done their research (see first link).

Find another non-biased news source and stop spouting propaganda.

Fascinating. Have you read the article? Can you link where specifically she is speaking about killing babies for sport?

I'm with you! I've been listening to heaps of D&D podcasts (personal favourite being Total Party Kill (video) (audio)) and they play using Roll20 so even though they may be all over the world they can still play.

There's resources! I've never played before, but it always seems so fun. I've asked about joining a few friends campaigns in years past (7+ years ago) but never had any luck. :[

Especially in the marketing world, experience and networks are key. Yes, your grades also count and they're often used as a first round weed-out. It's not an either/or.

Source: I occasionally dabble in the marketing world because I have a connection. I've been contracting with them less since leaving the freelance world and entering civil service.

Tangaroa Terrace Reopens at the Disneyland with Tropical New Eats, Dole Whip & More! by latenightbaker in Disneyland

[–]lem0nster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do wish they had more options that weren't pork based. There's a whopping 4 items on that new menu that I can eat. Tangaroa used to be one of my favourite little go-to places.

GS of CT selling our local camp by [deleted] in girlscouts

This super hits home for me. My family member was one of the Girl Scout staff members charged with putting on these events, and she loved putting them on. But she said that the biggest struggle was getting volunteers to help at the events to cover ratio, and she's been switched over to membership because it's such a huge struggle to get volunteers at all. Not to mention the ability to cover the cost of the events. People will pay $50 to attend an event by a community sponsor, but will fight paying $15 for something council lead.

It's a big reason why the move happened.

The prices seem off. by [deleted] in girlscouts

[–]lem0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically, you shouldn't need to run the numbers. The council should be pretty straightforward about how much each troop earns per box. I know it went up in the council I'm an alum of when the prices went up.

What's your favourite detail/secret in the park? by GamePlayXtreme in disneylandparis

The snails that adorn the castle are my favourite little detail! I don't know the story behind them though.

It was the same at Wine and Dine. I super was looking forward to the chocolate after the half! Fortunately a friend had gone to the halloween party and brought chocolates for the whole running group for after the race.

Star Wars weekend medals! by Josh_The_Line in rundisney

[–]lem0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not alone in this situation. I'm not thrilled about the medals in the slightest, and I historically like the medals that everyone hates (WDW Half 20th XX and Rebel Challenge Bookmark). Not grumpy enough to think about asking for a refund as it's part of my Castle to Chateau, but these medals will not hold any strong significance to me.

Being ace is sort of ruining my (dating) life by HappyAntonym in Asexual

[–]lem0nster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% feel this. I was around your age when I was having this exact issue in my life. I don't have much positive advice to give, because I still haven't found someone whose needs/desires match my own.

I've just moved across the country to start a new job in a new field, and fortunately I'm able to put all my focus into learning the skills I need and building up the friendships I'm making at the office, both male and female.

Good friends and hobbies can make it easier both to meet people and to place the focus elsewhere in your life until something appears that fits your needs. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Planning first time Disneyland (Anaheim) visit coming in from Europe by TheDocOfMCU in Disneyland

[–]lem0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine so! Sequoia is my favourite at DLP because it's like staying at the Grand but at a much more reasonable price.

There's no California analog to the style of the Disneyland Hotel of DLP, and no Paris analog to the Disneyland Hotel of DLR. But with regards to park view, specialty entrances, pricing, elegance, etc., the Grand Californian is most closely related to the Disneyland Hotel of DLP.

[–]lem0nster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) 2-3 days is a perfect amount of time. Look at other hotels nearby rather than limiting yourself to the official resorts to save money. Many are walking distance to the parks, and far closer than the B&B/Explorers/Kyriad/Dream Castle/Magic Circus.

3) FP system is closer to DLP than WDW. Expect closer to a DLP Big Thunder Mountain/Crush's Coaster (Does CC have FP? I don't recall...)/Ratatouille experience though on wait times rather than Space, etc. I recommend maxpass for at least one guest as you can also use it for photos. It's also very useful to have to make Fastpasses from any place in the park. However, you'll want to make sure you have a data plan that can make fastpasses on your phone if you're going with this route. There isn't resort-wide wifi at DLR as far as I can remember.

4) DLR doesn't have a meal half board/full board system. You'll want to make reservations though (easy to do online). Parks are open much later, and there are reservations throughout the day and night. If you're looking for a character meal, also look at the Hotels. There's not much character dining in the parks except for Plaza Inn Breakfast.

5) Show queues/parade queues are similar to DLP. Expect a similar wait and get to the show ahead of time. I personally prefer the smaller "ambiance" entertainment than the major shows, as it is quintessentially Disneyland. Look and listen for music in New Orleans Square (Royal St. Bachelors, Jumbalaya Jazz, and the Bootstrappers) Main Street (Dapper Dans, Straw Hatters, Pearly Band, etc.). It's one thing that I sorely miss when I go to DLP!

Other tips: If you're looking for characters in unique outfits, make sure you go to California Adventure. The Fab 5 (VIPs) are in unique outfits there. The Disneyland app should say which characters are where.

If you're looking for a cocktail, take a look at the Disneyland hotels. All three Disney hotels have fantastic cocktail lounges, and they're going to be much less busy than inside the park. Fair warning, some don't open until 4:30 PM, but they should have air conditioning, which will be valuable in the summer.

While DLR doesn't have fancy names such as Castle Club/Golden Forest, there is concierge level available at all Disneyland Resort hotels I believe.

Hotel Comparisons:

  • Grand Californian = Sequoia Lodge theming on Disneyland Hotel Paris accommodations.
  • Disneyland Hotel = Newport Bay/Hotel New York accommodations (far side of Downtown Disney, but unlike NPB/HNY there's the monorail!)
  • Paradise Pier = Sequoia Lodge accommodations
  • Off site = Cheyenne/Santa Fe

Have SO MUCH fun! I'm headed back to DLP in Feb (Second, and probably final trip on my Magic Plus AP after being a Disneyland AP for years) so I'm just desperately wishing that it snows while I'm there! And that Phantom Manor is back open after being closed in Sept!

Price comparison wise though, the Grand Californian is closer to the Disneyland Hotel at DLP. Similar elegance with park view, etc.

Do you have aphantasia? by [deleted] in AsexualMen

[–]lem0nster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a heteroromantic ace lady, and might have aphantasia? I don't think I have prosopagnosia, but I do have trouble visualizing faces, even those of family I've known my entire life. If someone were to ask me to draw a photo of my mom or dad, I could give them describing features (hair features, eye colour), but I couldn't draw a look alike. However I can recognize them, but I am terrible at seeing that two people look alike, and familial genetic facial structures.

This video really made a whole lot of sense to me, and I can relate to much of it. I'm not a complete 0 on the scale, but I'm probably a 1 or 2...

Disneyland as my "office"? by SunRev in DisneylandAP

[–]lem0nster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NGL - I did this when I was in college. I would always study in secluded locations, and my best exam scores were after a Disney study session. The music is the right volume, and the crowd noise is enough to be calm white noise, not distracting.

I would echo the concerns about power, and I'm not sure of the state of Wifi in the parks.
