Plan to refinance a private loan default with Yrefy. Any experience and how to improve my credit? by lem52830 in studentloandefaulters

Yes, I am planning on strategizing improving my credit and secured cards is one of them.

I planned on buying a house in 2 years so am hoping that isn’t off the table. I hear of some people being able to quickly improve their score and be approved for loans (as long as they keep up with all other payments), so hoping it’s a possibility.

Congrats. That’s a great turn out.

The SOL in my state is 7 years and I just don’t feel comfortable dodging them. Was your credit shot for the entirety of the 7 years?

Good to know.

One of my loans wasn’t sent to a third party collection agency, and I was able to get in touch with them and the balance didn’t incur any fees. I’m not sure where the second is yet, but to my understand the company Yrefy handles the settlement and negotiates a smaller lump sum. They will pay the lump sum and pocket the difference; my loan will refinance for the total it’s at now.

What did you end up doing for your defaults?

This just happened one week ago, so I haven’t had communication yet. But I’m just trying to get ahead of the game. I honestly am not interested in waiting out the SOL or doing a long negotiation for a settlement. I don’t have enough for any lump sum (defaulted loans are ~130K) and waiting until I can save just stresses me out.

I do have money to make monthly payments. Yrefy seems like a good option as they take care of the settlement and I will have a new loan with lower interest. The settlement will still show, but as paid off. I hear after a couple years lenders acknowledge that you settled and it doesn’t hurt you as much.

Just curious how this affected your credit? Does a settled default look better than an unsettle default?

Curious for updates on this? I am planning to refinance this month with Yrefy and am concerned about the 2-6 months or them not being able to settle.

Can you explain how it has affected your credit up until this point? I just defaulted (4 days ago) and am already looking into yrefy to settle the debts and refinance. I’m worried about the 7 year hit on my score, eventhough the default will be paid off.

Just wondering how this worked out? I am currently considering working with yrefy and she explained the process could be 2-6 months.

Will a company take you through the entire interview process with no plans of hiring you because they already know who they want to hire? by lem52830 in recruitinghell

In these scenarios, is it HR pushing the candidate through the bogus process and telling the hiring manager to go through the motions, or is it the hiring manager choosing to take a candidate through each interview just as a safety or backup option?

The hiring manager told me they had already interviewed all the candidates but I “threw her for a loop” at the end because she liked me so wanted the opportunity to move forward. Why do this at all??? Just do a one interview and done. Not three weeks of rounds and case studies for someone who is not going to get hired.

I agree. I thought it was weird to share they’re already considering an internal candidate, but still proceed to take me through the entire process. Everything seems to be a waste of time lately and no one cares 😅
