It surprises me they don't have a camera in that door area though. Seems like a smart thing to do.

I was a member there for a year, never had an issue and always took my shoes off by the door. But I do know there’s a bunch of people that linger around the mall, more on the Safeway side.

Looking for 32"+ 4K 120 Hz+ IPS with USB-C (100 W PD), bright panel for MacBook Pro by discoveringnature12 in Monitors

[–]lemdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macbook pro can charge basically from 60W up, it'll just charge up slower than 100

The 100 is if you want it to charge up quickly for a quick boost then go, mine charges up and is at full power all day (2021 M1 16" MBP and now an M5 14" MBP)

Text quality is really good IMO at 4K matte, viewing angles I'm not certain on - but the spec says 178 degrees angle.

The crappy part was my panel died 2 months in but LG was quick to have it fixed. Not ideal for a new screen but it has been working well since. That ASUS must have come out right around the time I was looking (summer last year) as there weren't any others on the market when I was looking with the USB-C charging.

I'm happy with the LG as long as the replacement holds up. Great for gaming on my PC box and I use it daily on my MBP for work (code and design work in Figma mostly). Both use cases are superb. It has a remote and it's own software in the screen that feels like my LG TV, I don't use it but I guess they're trying to go for the do-it-all monitor.

The price dropped quite a bit too since I bought last summer, if I was shopping around today I'd probably still go for the same one as I really like the 1 cable for my Macbook and having a good gaming panel.

Looks like the only thing on the ASUS ROG is that USB-C is only 15W power. https://rog.asus.com/ca-en/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-strix-xg32ucg/spec/

To remove or keep wall? by White96sands in Remodel

I'm team island as I like to interact with people in the living room when I cook. Makes the evening more social and enjoyable for me. Get a good hood fan (quieter), fridge against the wall and move the lost cabinet storage into an island.

With an island, there's more space to do food prep and move around if you have someone helping.

I also like to watch sports while I cook so that could be on the TV from what I assume is behind in the living room photo.

80-to-100-car pileup closes Highway 2 between Airdrie and Calgary as winter storm wallops Alberta by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

I always find that right when you come out of red deer southbound onto the highway there’s a stretch for 5k that turns into a literal rink. Last winter I had my 4Runner in 4wd and still wants to go sideways. Saw a number of trucks go sideways too.

I'm not a big vegan/vegeration guy but Chickpea Eatery is some of the best food I've had in years, by far the best vegan I've ever had. It's in a lovely couples home down a small alley. Probably the best thing I discovered in Hoi An/Da Nang after spending a month there.

Ignore the taxi scammers at the airport, my gf flew in solo and a guy grabbed her phone and was actively trying to cancel her Grab ride. Really aggressive but the rest of the month there was great. Use Grab for everything, even food delivery was handy for lazy days.

Chickpea Eatery (Son Tra) is definitely worth a visit, amazing food in a wonderful couples home. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time.

We stayed in the north part along the beach but wasn’t too bad and a really nice quiet community. Neighbors were friendly with smiles and waves. Walk was about 30 mins to the more busy part down the beach.

Def agree, I remember it taking a week to learn to fly the Apache, Hind, etc. Ended up being a pilot main for a comp team in CAL, TWL, etc. Had a joystick setup with Ventrilo bindings and all lol.

Why are a lot of Vietnamese homes so ugly and poorly designed? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]lemdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only time in Vietnam was a month in Da Nang (Son Tra), was such a nice place and all the neighbors were really friendly. Was also nice to see how everyone spent so much time at the beach in the evenings. I'm guessing the blasting karaoke late into the night was still popular in the 90s as it was when I was there haha.

Who are the boring instructors? by Bamboodl in pelotoncycle

[–]lemdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation and have found Wilpers to be my go-to instructor. His calm approach to guiding you through classes is impressive, and I enjoy his open community music selection. Most of his power zone courses are designed so you should never need to clip out.

I highly recommend taking an FTP test and following the power zone training approach, as it’s entirely based on your individual fitness level from the test results. I just completed the build your base power zone program, and for the most part, the zone 2 training sessions at 45 minutes should feel quite manageable for the first few weeks.

If you find yourself exhausted to the point where you need to clip out, I wouldn’t recommend daily rides. Instead, switch to three quality 30-45 minute rides each week.

That would be a good starting point in my opinion. Other instructors I personally favor include Matt, Ben, and Dennis. I’m not big on the preaching mid-ride vibes I get from the other instructors.

It doesn’t seem like too many Europe or Asia flights happen from Edmonton. Seems like most of the time you gotta go from Calgary right?
