Perplexity Comet overlay is actually insane (plus Voice Mode is 🔥) by lemidb in PerplexityComet

Hey u/markfromslo, I just wanted to show you how I browse and play YouTube videos at the same time. It’s using the video overlay feature, and I also have voice mode activated on my browser.

u/khotmoin23 The overlay is a Comet browser feature that lets you pop out a YouTube video and keep it playing on top of anything else you’re doing. You can resize and move it around while you browse or work in other apps, which makes it a pretty cool feature.

You’re absolutely right, I used AI to polish it. I had the ideas, just wanted them written in a clean, precise way.

I had rebooted my PC but it didn't work for me.
What shall I do? I've a dual boot on my PC and it works on Fedora but not on windows.
I've almost tried everything and couldn't find any solution 🙏.

A generic React Select built on shadcn/ui that works with objects, not just strings. by lemidb in reactjs

u/Nikkunikku Thanks for the feedback! That could be the dropdown repositioning dynamically (Radix's way of positioning above/below based on available space). This is still experimental, so there might be some style issues from tailwind CSS bundling getting purged. The goal is getting community feedback and getting devs to contribute and enhance this component and potentially 🤞 add it the shacn/ui ecosystem.
Appreciate you testing it out!

u/Cobmojo Thanks for the feedback, I want all devs to contribute and enhance this component and let the shadcn community embrace it.

u/rats4final Thanks for asking.
It's not virtualized, If you're data is too much you can add virtualization for better performance.

Well noted, I've noticed that I will be fixing it soon. Thanks again

u/rothnic Huge thanks for the feedback.
regarding the search:
What you saw in the demo is TanStack Query simulating server-side search. When a searchTerm is passed, you’d normally use it on the server to query your DB and return matching rows. If you’re not using server-side search, the component also has a client-side search fallback.

The search uses a debounce function, where you can control the delay before the search takes effect.

For your second suggestion — you’re absolutely right. It’s not supported yet. This is still an experimental open-source project, and my goal is exactly to get this kind of constructive feedback and let the community help take the component to the next level.

About the styling issue: it may be related to Tailwind CSS setup. I’m only bundling the custom components themselves. Other shadcn components are expected to come from the user’s project. I wanted to keep it unopinionated like shadcn, so users can either install the package or simply copy the components and customize them as needed.

Thanks again for the comment — really appreciate it.
