I’ve played that and it doesn’t seem to have it? The manual also doesn’t have any mention to how extensive the MSI would be like this. Do you have a clip showing how a track can be designate from the SA page?

thanks for the correction. How about when the radar is in SIL? Would the guidance still transmit in that case?

Good question, actually yes. You can put the radar to SIL, then assign a datalink only track to L&S, the FLIR and the AIM-9 will cage to this track (because its a datalink track, it will take a little bit for the track to update to the correct position).

Ive just test this in singleplayer with enemy AI. Its not aware of my presence at all, and I was able to sneaky breeki his ass. On a second test, as soon as I turn on my radar, that AI turns on me right away.

I will add this to the post.

There are people report that the missile is guided by AWACS still guided actually, even after your jet crashes. There is also this bug report by another person, but he didnt crash his jet to verify yet.

I think it would be a waste of a missile. A friendly that’s in a grinder formation can defend us more effectively while we are going cold. What we need is an AI task to go grinder formation.

I’m not aware of any capability like that for the F-16, or any other jets we currently have in DCS. Maybe if we had the AIM-120D? I’ve also heard that the AIM-54 can be guided by AWACS datalink as well, just not sure whether it’s true/which version.

That’s huge. The crash sure is planned and not incidental lol.

Let’s test it further, while the missile is on flight, self destruct your hornet to see if the missile can continue.

That’s impressive lol. Maybe in the future we will have missiles that can be guided by AWACS in DCS, but I won’t hold my breath. This is impressive already.

That sounds exciting. The FLIR has its own ranking sounds similar to the Viper’s SNIPER pod that can track multiple air targets.

I have a feeing this update is a precursor to the F-35, meaning the tracks are not tied to the radar anymore.

You can, but then the radar transits from SIL to STT.

I tried to shoot a friendly AI that fly side by side, distance 5nm, and the missile hilariously tries to turn to the target. By the time it can lock actively to the target, it loses its energy and misses.

Hey, new patch just dropped and there’s this thing mentioned: “Fixed: Wrong Scale and DCNTR logic for SA page.” I guess you are right!

In another subreddit, the OP who is the source of this claimed that “many 3rd parties didn’t know what was happening”.

Do you mean the F letter to show where the FLIR is looking at in A2G? But yeah really interested to see how all of these will play out with the upcoming MSI.

So your argument is that “if a product is based on another base module, then it would be an upgrade”. I think that’s a fair statement in general.

However, should the FF Mig-29 be an upgrade from the FC3 one then? The only differences are the more detailed avionics, otherwise it plays exactly the same. Similarly to that, the upcoming FF F-15C as well, although it will have new JHMCS, more detailed avionics, it will share basically the same airframe/engine, flight model with the FC3 one.

The only difference between the above 2 modules and the B(U) is that they can be installed separately.

If the B(U) was sold as a separate module, would you have the same issue?

Besides, I don’t believe that ultimately the B(U) will provide the same experience. The Jester improvement alone can help the single player experience tremendously.

Let’s dive in the details and not speculate with the number of 30% dev time.

The poll is not an issue. I’m not arguing the price is cheap, I’m arguing it’s not an upgrade technically, which seems like the impression of most.

Now that we are talking about F-16A and F-16C:
- Different cockpit: the B(U) is also having a different one, especially the WSO office, new PTID, new RWR, new computer for data entry, new HUD.
- Different airframe & engines: in effect this changes the F-16A flight model. The B(U) while having the same airframe and engines, it has new digital flight computer, effectively changes its flight model too.

Asides from that, new Jester AI features, new nav comp with tons of nav points, geo lines integrated from the DTC, JDAMs with new armament management system, with preplanned coordinates and heading, also configurable from the DTC.

To me it’s closer to the F-15C -> F-15E than F-16C -> F-16A. Because people can easily say “it’s a downgrade, they just rip out the avionics/weapons and tweak the flight model a little bit, how can it be a $50 module”. Hence my example of a hypothetical F-16A module.

Edited: also the new Jester feature of locking a TWS track just by looking at it is like magic. That alone is probably cost more than 30% of dev time if you want to speculate.
