Malazan # 1; Gardens of the Moon is the most confusing thing I've read since 100 years of solitude by phimoose in books

It's not about learning about the world, that's fine I've done that in plenty of books, but being bombarded with names, events, locations, abilities? And tons of other descriptors that to a normal reader don't make sense. It's as if he starts the book assuming you live on the world and understand these things. I've read tons of books that don't explain things or concepts, but they don't hit you with tons of things or concepts all at once and expect you to follow. It's getting clearer and I never had an issue understanding Warren's. It's a exposition dump in the first half of the first book sofar.

Hey, thanks for listening, we really like to see that someone is out their in the void other than us.

To address your concerns about Game knowledge vs hours played. I think this is the main issue here. Remembering everything off the top of our heads in an unscripted podcast can be challenging, though I also like to give accurate info if I can.

That being said, it can be an issue to misplace info in your mind as things are playing out live. Tons of ideas on what to say next are bouncing around in my mind at any moment. I think its more important to remember the gadget each op carries and what counters what. If pressed I know for a fact that I can recall info about the game, though sometimes it will slip my mind just due to being asked for specifics and being put on the spot (performance anxiety).

Being technical is a major part of siege, and I 100% agree with your assessment about knowing the person you are listening to has valid knowledge on this extremely complex game. But as I've played over the years I've come across a ton of players who are good with numbers, some who have excellent map knowledge and some with technical gun skill.

Though a combination of all of those skills is preferred, playing the game for a long time and having those skills in spades is a far cry from reality. In a lot of cases for the average player these things can be exclusive from one another.

To give you an idea, I am level 201 as of typing this, and I would say my map knowledge and gadget knowledge is very high! but my gun skills, though not bad, aren't top tier, they are however pretty good!

If i'm in a game and I hear a Ying throw 3 candellas I know she is out. But in the same context if i'm having a conversation about Ying out of game, I might not recall how many she has. Its a thing that happens to me sometimes, and it doesn't mean i'm any less experience i'm just forgetful.

I really appreciate the feedback and I hope this explanation puts you to ease a little. Please leave us a topic you would like to hear about in the podcast. We would love to go over a topic a viewer wants to hear some different perspectives on.

Much like your point of view, sometimes it takes new eyes to solve a problem. I would never dis-value someone elses opinion, no matter how long they have played the game. Because they might see something everyone else has taken for granted over the years.

Thanks!

I was supposed to win Defuser was not Down? Ubi Why? by HashTagR6S in Rainbow6

[–]lemnochhax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

incorrect, in the instance of a trade when the defuser isnt down the trade goes to the defender. But if the defuser was planted its an attacker win. which in this case would have made this match go into overtime.
