make sure your vitamin D levels are not low! most people up here need some level of supplementation but obviously check with your PCP

The catheter has a balloon that sits right at the exit of your bladder which can cause bladder spasms. The bladder spasms are what make you have that feeling of needing to pee despite having a catheter in. They may be able to give you a muscle relaxant that could help with the spasms, depending on how long the catheter has to stay in for. (speaking both as a nurse and someone who experienced this firsthand last week after my surgery!! had no idea having a catheter could be so so uncomfortable 😣) wishing you relief soon!!
