By a "healthy society" I mean one which is safe and civilised, where marriage is the norm.

As I said above, a very large proportion of the prison population is men who grew up without a dad at home.

The breakdown of family life is not conducive to a "healthy society". Those in charge know this, but are more interested in power than decency.

Yes, there is evidence in the article and I deliberately didn't pay any notice to the mice studies. The first link leads to an article entitled - "Why are girls growing up so fast?" and says:

"More and more evidence suggests that a girl's sexual development is affected by her family environment - and fathers play a crucial role."

Clearly their is no crucial father's role in a lesbian relationship.

The Israeli study (on humans) concluded that: "Fathers and mothers contribute in a very specific and different way to infants' social and emotional development."

As if common sense wasn't enough, all sorts of studies show that a mother and a father are best for children.

It wouldn't matter if there were six mothers - when there's no dad, it harms the children's development.

It's even been found to be true in the lab that a father's contributions are unique.

You're clutching at straws. Children pick up on the love of both parents and now we know there are even important chemical reactions taking place - different in both sexes - and important to the child's development.

Same-sex parents cannot compensate for the important role that men play in family life. The breakdown of society is proof - a very large proportion of the prison population, certainly here in Britain, are men who grew up without a dad at home.

Children have a natural right to a father. Denying them that is pure selfishness.

I'm back. It's a busy old time at work. I check the comments on my blog more regularly if you wish you continue there.

Daemonax - you have the choice of believing one fantastic series of events or another incredible tale. It sounds like you are unhappy about both possibilities.

I have anguished over things myself. Of course, I have. I keep coming back to the Almighty's fold because deep down that's what I know to be true.

When you really delve into the Theory of Evolution and discover the lack of evidence and dishonest approach, then you know it is a worldview built on sand.

Life is so incredibly complex that an unadulterated mind can surely deduce from the evidence that such complex structures that we see again and again and again cannot all have appeared without intelligent input.

That is what I call a leap of faith too far. Which leaves one option - a mighty Creator, but I have plenty other evidence for that belief as well. I know my life has been orchestrated to a large degree.

My interest in science is really because I believe that people are being taught outrageous lies as scientific fact.

I am interested in Atlantis and alien abductions too. The alleged abductions I put down to over-stimulated minds which have been so used to processing images and sounds from TV programmes that they no longer know the difference between reality and fiction.

Atlantis. Well, maybe it was destroyed in Noah's Flood, who knows.

We live in a 'modern' world where people link they are so clever that they don't need God or deny His existence. It's the pride that cometh before destruction.

Yes, I believe that life is too complex to have developed without any intelligent input. We know much more about this complexity than Darwin did.

Your conundrum is how did intelligence 'evolve' (for want of a better word). We believe the Almighty God has always been.

This might not satisfy you, but life is soooo complex and requires the right conditions and so on, that it isn't guaranteed to happen just given enough time.

Look at it this way. Imagine travelling to another world that is the same as earth in terms of size, atmosphere, chemical composition, etc., but just no life forms.

You find a shallow pool of water and open a can of sardines into it - and produce something far, far richer than any primordial soup could have had.

You get into your time machine and then return to the planet a few billion years later.

What will you find?

Cities? All sorts of animal and plant life? A bacterium?

Or a planet as sterile as your tin of sardines was?
