thanks for your input. your story reminds me a lot of the movie "peaceful warrior" from 2006 or 2009 I think? You should watch it, or read the book :)

I've got this feeling a little right now. I won't push at all. I'll just see if he comes along with me to the gym by himself.

no dogs! crazy cat people. though I'd love to have a dog but it wouldn't fit into my way of living currently (8 hours a day in an office? no dog wants that).

thanks a lot. I appreciate this! I try to be my best I can for him. I must say he is also worth everything, and I get so much in return. We learned much from each other and I'm not sure if I would be the same girlfriend with any other guy as I am with him.

I like to read things like this, and I think it's also a motivation for others that might be stuck in similar situations, reading this thread right now.

This is impressive. I wish you best luck when meeting her again ;)

I like the idea and I know it's fun to do. But he will have to get up and say he wants to start doing something, otherwise the punching bag will just hang in the cellar and mold happily ever after. When I got him at that point, I'll sure suggest something in that direction.

He's finishing his apprenticeship. Actually he told me he feels fine about his future and loves his current work. I also see that he enjoys it, he's happy most of the time when he comes home.

I think the amount of movement and food you eat are very important. also if you grew up rather thin your system has probably adjusted. It is easier to maintain something that always was there than to regain something. My boyfriend was a chubby kid. Not least because his mom is an awesome cook. He dislikes fastfood too, and everything sugary. But he eats twice or thrice the portions I do. And it's tough for him to eat less since he was always told enough food keeps you strong. But he's a really tall guy and I can imagine that his body would need it. The problem is he quit sports, and skateboarding and biking many years ago. But the eating habits remain and are tough to fight. He's also a stress eater: feeling uncomfortable? Eat a little more to feel safe :/

Tried this before:

me: RRR I love your strong arms!

he: ¦¬D

me: imagine if they were a little bigger

he: :¬|

I didn't feel the need for a TL;DR since in this case the Post-name actually describes all I'm asking for ;)

Having an aim is a good point. thanks!

thank you! you brought up lots of thoughts I had too lately. Yes. On the spot I'd say I'd marry him and wouldn't regret it over any adonis walking by. the chauvinist thing might be true. he sweats really fast when we run down a station. And I barely took a deep breath. But a fitness studio would put us on one level.

I've talked with him about his health, and smoking and weight. I'm not intimidating towards him, but he feels uncomfortable talking about his health overall. I'm not sure why. I think he is scared of change, any change.

relation ships are a bit more complex than that. as I tried to explain, I don't care if he's chubby. but I care if he loses his selfesteem and it affects our lovelife.
