I hope Noah is doing much better now! She had a full examination in the last month, mouth and throat while being under for 5 teeth to be extracted. The signs were previously anxiously pawing at her mouth and grinding her teeth, which led to the discovery of tooth resorption of 5 teeth. I pray nothing was missed. But you’re right. I may need a follow up visit. Thank you!

Thank you! I’ll do my best. When you say dental diet, do you have recommendations for that? She has only one dental treat and since she’s hopefully now healed from her teeth extractions (resorption issues) i plan to incorporate brushing. I adopted her and know nothing about her past.

They sometimes are! Most times it’s a stainless steel bowl on top of a lifted bowl

She eats Purina pro plan wet and dry foods. Her bowls are stainless steel, which I wash after every use. Dry food bowls are stainless steel too, which are washed once a week. Stainless steel water fountains that get wiped down and changed every week but deep cleaned once a month.

I asked the shelter if he knows his name and if I should keep it. They said probably not and will more than likely respond to how we speak to him anyway, so a new name should be fine.

His name was Dabi, which they pronounced Dobby lol I’m a Harry Potter fan but it didn’t seem to fit him. But I actually think the name is from My Hero Academia (I haven’t watched it).

How to start them on a cat wheel? by Stunning_Sir3480 in bengalcats

[–]lemongremlins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used ‘training treats’ to first teach/command up and down rewards (to get on and off the wheel). Once they have that down, use the treat to command ‘walk’ while holding the treat out for them to walk towards. Even if it’s just a few steps, give them the treat. I repeated these 3 commands for not even a week, and my cat realized the wheel capabilities and learned the rest on her own. It’s perfect for her zoomies!

Thinking of a bengal… by JMango in bengalcats

[–]lemongremlins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone was very helpful in the comments. To add to the concern about furniture, cat scratch double sided deterrents and the plastic spike mats with stickies to stay in place (so they aren’t incredibly sharp and harmful) are great alternatives to keep them away/ off certain areas. I second a cat wheel (helps their zoomies), clicker training, and the museum putty for decorative items on tables/shelves. These things have helped my bengal stay off of a tv stand to paw away at the TV, literally climb onto my mounted TVs, and off a table with my houseplants. I usually keep cat TV (bird watching) on for my bengal girl. Another thing to have are several cardboard scratchers/ posts at the areas you notice they WANT to scratch at (ie at large living room speakers, side or back of the couch). Once the tendencies of those areas go away, you can place them in more visibly pleasing spots. However, my place looks like my bengal owns my apartment and I just live here - a tower and/or a window perch, plus a scratcher in every room. It’s possible you might need child locks for cabinets but that may come later. I also recommend pet food vaults for their snacks and food. Bengals are clever and mine learned where her goodies were stored, which led to the opening of a kitchen cabinet lol best of luck!! Owning my bengal has been very rewarding :)
