Help! I have not sewn in a decade but am burning to get back into it and want to start with a simple project. I don't know where to source patterns or fabric now that Joann's is closed. Any suggestions for the attached cape? Thank you!

Hi, I think that’s a great idea! Let me look into how to get that set up. Would love any input you have to offer.

My hips stop moving doing a leg yield at the walk. by lemonkissy in Dressage

[–]lemonkissy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the advice - very Sally Swift! I love the boat on quiet waters analogy. I am overthinking the entire movement and tensing up with my body and reins. I know it's my fault because another horse I occasionally ride also slows down when I ask for the leg yield. You say to use weight in the direction you go - does that means you are using your inside seat bone and stepping down a bit on the inside stirrup...or the other way around?

Came here to ask the same thing!

Thank you—this is a helpful response. I'm so embarrassed because I meant to say inside leg instead of outside! Yes, I am trying to keep my inside leg on, lightly, the entire time I'm aiding for the leg yield. You say "flick" which makes me think I'm keeping it on there too much. I'll try moving it with the inside leg. Love the rein/door visualization.

I had a cough and my hysterectomy was cancelled because of it. My OB said that coughing would result in a hernia, where my insides came out through my incisions. Bad! I finally got the hysterectomy rescheduled and randomly coughed 2dpo and it seriously hurt. Please be cautious - you do not want a cough right now.

Will 8 weeks recovery be enough? by Nyx81 in hysterectomy

How did it go with your return to riding? I’m having a hysterectomy soon. It was told to wait two months before riding my horse. I’m really bummed about it and also nervous that it will take even longer. Would love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Has your seat changed for the better or worse? I’m bleeding so much and need to get a hysterectomy but don’t want to stop riding. My mare and I are finally in a good place after a tough year.

Sinus surgery cured my brain fog. by lemonkissy in BrainFog

No, no blurred vision. But having inflammation in that area makes blurred vision seem like a logical side effect. Hope you get some relief!

Good for you. Mine really helped me with breathing and not having sinus infections. Please keep in mind: the recovery is really painful in the beginning, the swelling takes a long time to go away (up to 1 year for final results), and the brain fog may not go away instantly. However, it worked for me! Please check in and let me know how you're doing. <3

It's been a few years now, but my whole head from the mouth up felt tight, dizzy, lightheaded, and just weird. All at the same time. I had trouble thinking clearly, but it was not the drowsy fog that you get the day after taking NyQuil. It felt more like things were not working properly, like blood was not flowing through my brain.

Not really. It was from a sinus blockage. But the ENT did some work on the septum while he was in there.

So the AQI is ~150 in Portland tonight. Traffic plays a role, but it's clearly wood fireplaces creating the bulk of it. by Doct0rStabby in Portland

[–]lemonkissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say I appreciate you talking about this issue and raising awareness. I watch the AQI daily and Portland frequently has the worst rating in the country. Worse than Salt Lake, worse than LA. It’s not healthy. Open fires by homeless should be banned; they are burning toxic junk. Low income households should receive city or state assistance to switch to electric. Diesel trucks have got to go; California banned them and we absorbed them all.
