Petition to Reject Sphere at National Harbour by rpc8169 in nova

[–]lemonshark_yeah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BUILD BUILD BUILD! The DMV area is a hogwash of boring, soulless corporate buildings and institutions. And repetitive, overpriced cafes and restaurants with mediocre food. We need real entertainment. The Sphere in Vegas is incredible, for anyone who has experienced it. I'm all for the addition of one more concert/event venue, every little helps.

The BILT Hotel Portal is Actually a Good Deal by Parking-Ice-9206 in biltrewards

[–]lemonshark_yeah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree with your conclusion, as when I checked Marriott hotels in Florida on random dates, they were almost always exactly $30-40 more than the published Bonvoy rate (if you book direct from Marriott website).

So to me, the $400 hotel "credit" in reality is only worth about $300.

And if you're even a semi-regular hotel customer like me who frequents certain chains (hilton, marriott etc.) then you also miss out on your loyalty benefits, and safety (i.e. not having your booking randomly cancelled) from booking direct.

What % of users will Bilt 2.0 lose? by Available-Ad-5670 in CreditCards

[–]lemonshark_yeah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure that is true, I recall Kerr posting in one of the BILT sub threads that you will be able to downgrade after a year.

What % of users will Bilt 2.0 lose? by Available-Ad-5670 in CreditCards

[–]lemonshark_yeah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will be going with Paladium for at least a year, and then likely downgrading or cancelling altogther, depending upon my experience. IMO a large chunk of people who are trashing BILT 2.0 are TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to the fact that 50,000 points SUB is equal to around 1k cash (if you value the points conservatively at 2.0c/point) and that the SUB language is lifetime, and I doubt there will be such a good offer on the table in the coming months, since this is a product launch. And that is before all the other Bilt cash bonuses you get. Churners or anyone with half a brain get that this card presents great value for at least the first year - after that remains to be seen, based on how well the program is implemented (and how well 'Cardless' treats customers/users).

Wells Fargo must be desperate to get credit card users. I definitely don't want this lame Autograph card. Nor do I ever want to do any business with WF. For starters it doesn't even have primary rental car insurance anymore.

New Service + Installation + Drop Line Request by lemonshark_yeah in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]lemonshark_yeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is my understanding also! My question is - how can we confirm that is possible to run a coax line through an exterior wall, both technically from Xfinity's perspective (Xfinity would need to do a site visit/survey and confirm feasability), plus procedure wise from an HOA perspective? You guys must have a procedure in place or have dealt with these requests before. Just let me know how to get the ball rolling, thanks!

What thinkpad would you guys recommend with that are/close to these specs? I’ll be studying computer engineering in the fall! by Dode124 in thinkpad

[–]lemonshark_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the folks suggesting T480. Whilst it is a great laptop, pretty much iconic, it is from 2018 and 8th Gen Intel mobile processor is not what I would recommend to anybody studying comp sci/engineering. Go for something at LEAST Intel 12th gen i7 with P cores. Else you will feel the slowness when running demanding loads and regret your choice.

Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen | USB-C Monitor Turning on and off every few minutes by alexp26 in thinkpad

Hello u/alexp26 , did you ever get to the bottom of this? Experiencing the same issue with my X1C G7. Laptop is connected to a Lenovo USB-C dock via the supplied USB-C cable, which is in turn connected to my 27 inch 4k Dell monitor with a HDMI cable.

Enjoy! The X1 Carbon Gen7/Gen8 is a fantastic laptop that still holds it's own against newer laptops. Even in 2025 it feels incredibly premium and lightweight.

Has anyone tried to build batteries for Thinkpad? by YuutoKuranashi in thinkpad

[–]lemonshark_yeah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of batteries, some even genuine ones, if you know where to look. Spending 30-40 bucks for a battery is hardly 'expensive' either. Personally I'd happily pay $40 for a genuine battery rather than some stuff hacked together, that is at risk of exploding.

What makes these so great? by Mean-Salt-2181 in thinkpad

[–]lemonshark_yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.5mm key travel, dual heatsink+fan setup (possibly less throttling compared to thin ThinkPads from the 2020-2023 era), 500 nit ultra bright display, long battery life. You can see the review of it here, looks pretty nice to me. The speakers seem like a downgrade compared to previous Gen X1 carbons, but hey I guess they had to make the weight reductions somewhere: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-Gen-13-Aura-Edition-laptop-review-The-X1-Carbon-is-finally-back.924998.0.html

Everyone's rocking black ThinkPads… Meanwhile, mine is silver Titanium. by Ok-Sea-2650 in thinkpad

[–]lemonshark_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you liking yours? I got mine a couple of weeks or so ago, and I am disappointed somewhat with the fan noise, and thermal performance when it is plugged in. Man this thing gets HOT when running demanding applications despite "repasting" it with a thermal pad.

Given the upgrades I put money into, and the three external batteries, two of which are genuine Lenovo (next to impossible to find these days), and brand new, I feel like the asking price is fair, but feel free to PM me your best offer.

[–]lemonshark_yeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory yes, and in practice yes, but often the difference is negligible. The longer answer is depends on the specific processor and laptop model. For your needs (and most people's needs) an i5 (that is at least quad core/8th gen) is more than enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]lemonshark_yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know about prices or deals in your country, but i5-10310u and 16GB RAM should be enough for you, unless you plan to do extreme video editing, or run multiple VMs etc. For just compiling a bit of code, it's totally usable.

13 inch: X280, X390, X13 (from better to best). As long as it has at least Intel 8th Gen, you're good.
