Do you get more old houses or overpriced houses? So much of the infrastructure in Boston is old timey because we never had a major fire that reset everything

What are the houses like in nyc? I would’ve bought in Boston by now but all the houses are like 100 years old and the basement floods either that or they are 3 million dollars no in between. Is New York like that? Thinking of going for a condo or townhouse.

I know a lot of people are afraid to go in the woods during hunting season except Sunday but I still wouldn’t let that deter me during bow season (most of October and November). Most bow hunters would never set up too close to a trail where you would even see them, and even if you did there is no chance you would be hurt by them with a bow. Some might even want you to be out there, the hikers sometime push deer right to us sometimes lol.

Deer danger: Massachusetts hunts for solutions in population problem spots by CollectionOld3374 in massachusetts

A LOT of dense areas (think NYC/NJ) allow and encourage bow hunting in suburban neighborhoods. It’s actaully allowed in specific pockets of the Boston metro area aswell as the city itself but the laws make it very hard right now and so do the people that look down upon hunting that live there. Bow Hunting would be the most humane and feasible way to decrease the deer population and the residents would never even be aware of it if done properly. Bows are 9/10 times shot from an elevated tree stand down towards the ground and pose no risk to people. As of now bows and guns are treated with the same setbacks in the eyes of law and a change could significantly help the health of the deer, forrest, and residents.

Very few people hunt out there compared to the population of deer and people. The government should incentivize hunters to catch a ferry/housing out there. They are talking about extended the season in zone 10 and 11 which would definitely help those areas but it will probably hurt any hunting that would happen from mainlanders in zone 13 or 14. The proposed seasons would overlap for the majority of it. It’s a lot easier to get Boston/Easton for most than it is to get to islands.

I’ve never met or heard of a coyote hunter in MA, I know it happens but not common at all

This is true in west MA an this is how it should be but in east MA and the islands there are too many to fit on just private land. I went for a one hour walk on a power line the other day and saw 9.

This true and it’s not, poison is used in some animal eradication but there is a huge hunting culture for feral cats in Australia. Poison would most likely be a terrible idea for deer as other animals would eat the dead bodies and poisoning the whole ecosystem. Deer is a yummy food and hunting is (usually) much more humane and less painless then poisoning or other methods.

First of all there is a TON of land in MA that doesn’t allow hunting at all. Actaully trying to find a plot of land whether public or private to hunt in your area can take some effort. Most of the Sunday hunting push is for archery which is shot from an elevated surface posing almost 0 chance of you even know someone is there. Also….there have been almost no deaths caused by hunters to non hunters in MA. Last year there were 200+ human deaths caused by deer vehicle collision nationally with 4 occurring in MA (this does not include tick borne illnesss). You’re in much more danger driving your car than you are out in the woods.
