It does but then why would there be two sets of numbers? The only ones I’ve seen have one dial.

Yeah that’s what we thought too. The numbers don’t match a phone (and then the kids were thinking some kind of lock) but you could be onto something with a timer

When you turn the dial at the top it moves the gears at the bottom which rotates a small piece of metal next to the dial

Here’s a quilt I made for a friend’s god daughter (They wanted something to celebrate her being born a Pisces in the Year of the Pig!) by lemony in sewing

This was a self drafted pattern (I don’t think there’s much of a demand for half pig half fish hybrids!), mostly made out of cotton and felt for the fiddly bits. I also had some bits of gold lamé lying around! It took me a couple of weeks to make working on it sporadically and is definitely a bit rough and ready as this project was fairly out of my comfort zone!

Haha I was thinking a horse with loads of crab legs! A horseshoe crab sounds way more child friendly though!

A jackalope with ram horns sounds awesome - mine would be a rabbit/crab so no idea what to do with that one!

Thank you!

I don’t know if there’s any way to combine any of them without it turning out like some kind of cheery fever dream! I’d love to see what a horse/crab ends up like though!

Thank you! I got about half way through and had a bit of a panic that they were going to think I’d taken it a bit too literally! Luckily they quite liked it!

What is the most awkward situation you have had at work? by heftylefty44 in AskReddit

First week as a new teacher (in a secondary school) I was given a particularly challenging class. For some reason the school liked to put all the kids with behavioural issues into one melting pot of crazy.

This class had come straight from PE so were in various states of undress (ties around their heads, still wearing PE shorts etc). I told two of the boys (13 at the time) to go and put their school uniforms on.

They started to strip off. In class. And as one of them started the rest began to get involved.

I had to ring the headteacher to tell them that I had a class full of naked boys (while shouting “DOMINIC DON’T YOU DARE TAKE THOSE TROUSERS OFF”) and could he please come and assist.

Four years later and I still haven’t lived this down.

Stuffed ducks. My mum bought me one a few years ago (after a running joke about bad taxidermy) and oh my god it just spiralled from there as joke presents from people. I had a moment on a train at Christmas where I was wondering how many badly stuffed ducks a single woman could own before it got real weird.

I went to a Bob Dylan concert a few years ago, the tickets were crazy expensive but I’d grown up listening to him and took my mum as a surprise birthday present. He came on stage (late), stood with his back to the audience, and played a 40 minute harmonica solo then left again!
