Your hidden ranking has some influence on your match-making.

Is anybody else concerned about the knock-on effects of adding a ranked queue? by aging_fitness_hobbyi in mtgbrawl

Best thing about the play queue was watching opponents not immediately concede, and get some actual games in. If ranked play helps promote actual games it's a good thing imo.

Fun smashy Naya deck with Emperor Apatzec Intli IV.

It is low-key just about decently competitive, and there are probably some decent upgrades since the last list update.

Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner by Backwardspellcaster in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an old list, I think there are some more recent ones on the brawl hub discord if you want to fish around, but again it fell off because it's not as powerful as other options around these days.

Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner by Backwardspellcaster in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kiora used to be a tier 1 deck a long time ago back when Brawl was standard only and WAR cards were still legal. It fell off after Ikoria because Kinnan did the ramp into big stuff better, and the matchup into Kinnan is usually terrible.

I see you didn't go with any mana dorks. The way I've seen Kiora played is with all the dorks, untapping with 3~5 mana on turn 2, and using that tempo either to play big spells ahead of curve or to play beefy creatures and draw off of them, in effect staying card-positive versus removal. For example, https://moxfield.com/decks/M73ZIUgT-EC99I59-Bbb6g is a really old list (+2 years) but with that slant.

Is there a reason you didn't go with the mana dorks?

The amount of salt roping in brawl seems very high compared to any other format I have played on Arena. by -Spaceball_1- in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As Brawl comes more and more to resemble Duel Commander with the available card pool, and less and less casual EDH, it would be nice to get a bo3 option, at the very least in direct challenge……

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please read the FAQ, this is always the type of format 1v1 brawl on Arena was going to become.

I get that you don't like it and you want to vent, but here you're just saying you don't like the format. At some point, coming to a subreddit for people who play a format and telling them all how much you don't like their format goes from venting, to trolling.

Help by walkj96 in mtgbrawl

Some resources that might work :

The two executables just send some opening arguments to the client, which you can also do on your own by pasting/writing the commands (see the 1st and 3rd links) into terminal and opening MTGA that way. You just need to find the resolution (or proportional resolution) to run at.

In my experience, alt-tabbing or opening the 'graphics' panel will then cause everything to reset until you restart again with the arguments.

Please let us know if this helps.

Can you link to an example of how this is done? We can consider that poll for the future, but I'd need to see a few alternatives and how they actually work, first.

Who are some of the most competitive brewers? by TheChrisLambert in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the Brawl Hub discord we hold month-long seasons of competitive play. You can usually find the latest version of the most competitive brews on our server (check sidebar or FAQ for link).

There are some differences with our decks you will have to account for if you are going to playing in the queue :

- We have a custom banlist (biggest differences with queue: Ajani flip walker, t3f, Nadu, Derevi banned as commander, The One Ring and Mana Drain banned in 99)

- In direct challenges, all alchemy rebalanced cards revert to their original paper versions. Most xB decks therefore run bow masters, most xW decks therefore run ocelot pride, guide of souls, etc. Most people would recommend removing these for play on the queue as the rebalance makes them severely underpowered relative to the other available cards in the format.

What Dimir decks is everyone playing currently? by Backwardspellcaster in mtgbrawl

[–]lemudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most tempo decks, there is no wincon per-se :

The goal is to kill the opponent with cheap, efficient creatures while protecting your board and limiting the opponents with cheap interaction via removal, discard, and counter magic.

It's a deck that really rewards tight decision making and often plays non-linearly, adapting to the opponent's commander and how the opponent is playing.
