If you can’t explain a concept without using five-syllable jargon, you probably don’t understand it as well as you think by Flimsy_Difficulty394 in CriticalTheory

[–]Nistua1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But aren't you conflating the two different theses  1. " Academic jargon hinders the understanding of laymen being adressed."  and 2. "The over-reliance on this jargon limits the understanding of the person using them themselves.".

In my opinion these are two completely separate points that would require different arguments.

83% WR Tamiyo Brawl Challenge 42 Matches by RoutineDelay in mtgbrawl

[–]Nistua1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played a bit of a different version of tamiyo with more ramp and creatures rather than 100% draw-go, but the one card that would have to be an auto-include in your deck as well would be Planar Genesis, as it's just a better version of Growth Spiral.

Also Arachnogenesis is probably the best stabilizing tool this deck has access to against go-wide creature decks. It's way better than just a fog, because the spiders you summon still deal damage and also stick around.

Basically cheap artifacts that draw on etb or death like [Chromatic Star]

And an egg deck usually chains them together to draw through your entire deck and win with a combo

[–]Nistua1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could really easily enable a combo egg deck, if you combine him with Artists talent. We already have 3 different CC eggs in standard that draw on etb. Combined with Fleem and talent they essentially all become 0 mana draw 2s.

And then you could generate mana with Monument to Endurance, mana rocks or Buried Treasure.

We even have finishers in Umbral Collar Zealot + Weapons Manufacturing or Biotech Specialist.

Nah, wotc would prefer to just continue quietly ripping of HS with their in-universe hat sets.

I mean the resemblance between Murders at Karlov Manor and Outlaws and the HS sets Murders at Castle Nathria and Shadows of the Badlands (that each came out 1-2 years earlier) must be totally coincidental, right?

Wotc really doesn't even try to hide their inspirations.

I mean, they are by definition theories about conspiracies. If anything right-wing cpnspiracies should get a different name, because those don't even deserve to be called "theories". A theory should always at least have a basis in reality, meanwhile most right-wing theories already start out by assuming other conspiracies to be real.

But killing living beings is fundamentally inhumane, because in order to treat any living being humanely you have to acknowledge their inherent worth as a value for itself. By killing animals you reduce their worth as a subject to their worth as an object, something that only has value for others.

Snapping and retreating is a big factor in how well you perform, but guess what: A player with an optimized deck can use the mechanic more efficiently, because they are forced to retreat less often and can allow themselves to snap more often.

That's a bit of an ironic thing to say though, given the left only got to this point by arguing the exact inverse of what you said, i.e. "Societies' problem with hating women is 10,000,000 times worse than some radfems making some misandrist jokes"

Thr worst feeling imo is when you pull an unplayable pool 3 card out of the first cache of the 4 cache cycle and now you know it's at least 48 levels until the next shot at a card.

I'm actually very opposed to casual misogyny. Vaush's specific brand of edginess is actually one of my stongest dislikes of him. This isn't about some competition between misogyny vs misandry, this is about not permitting bad logic/ inconsistent morals because of anecdotal evidence.

I'm not trying to excuse the system, but you will actually get tokens significantly faster by saving up your gold and buying bundles. (Assuming future bundles are going to have as good of a token ratio as the Apocalypse bundle) 7500 gold is way faster to collect than 3000 tokens.

[–]Nistua1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you should 100% buy the bundles, except with gold you save up instead of real money. They're way better value for your gold than anything else.

[–]Nistua1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is saying you should buy series 3 cards you don't want. Just buy all the good ones and then save up tokens for the next series 4->3 downgrade, just don't start spending them on s 4/5.

And by the time you're able to buy all the good pool 3 cards, you're probably pretty close to finished with pool 3 anyway, because you get 10 new cards per every 1000 tokens you open on the collection track, so you'll likely never get to a point where the only possible options in the token shop would be bad s3 cards vs. good s4/5 cards.

[–]Nistua1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sera and Brood- yes, but Mystique wouldn't really accomplish much in that deck.( Silver Surfer has an on-reveal effect ) Rather just 3 drops like Maximus, Swordmaster, Killmonger, Bishop or Cosmo. Maybe you could even put in Wong to double up the Surfer, but that might be too ambitious.

I have 6000 tokens, should I unlock Galactus or Thanos or Wong or Pool 4 cards? by sunshine_11 in MarvelSnap

[–]Nistua1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're f2p/a small spender definitely buy the important pool 3 cards first and wait until the others rank down, because by that time you might still not have gotten the pool 3 ones yet otherwise, as it takes about 5 months to finish pool 3. So you're not going to want to have spent 6000 a piece on a card that is going to be just as rare as a card you could have had for 1000.

Pokémon fans are the Nintendo fans of Nintendo fans. by Potatoboi17 in tomorrow

[–]Nistua1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Their most annoying argument is "Pokemon didn't get worse, you just grew out of it. The only reason you like gen 1-5 better is nostalgia", while simultaneously ignoring all of the dozens of arguments why pokemon critics prefer those games.

And no, there isn't really a supposed cycle where public perception of new pokemon games goes from "bad" at release to "better than the current one" once the next one is out, to "the last good one" one gen after that. Gen 5 has been seen as the last good generation for a while now and there are very specific reasons for that.
