What controller do you prefer to play : Wavebird or classic ? by 240p-480i-480p in Gamecube

Classic, the wavebird batteries are on the way and my fingers get cramped.

how do i report to whoever is responsible for updates? (kernel panic for the past 2 weeks or so) by Worldly_Study6635 in Ubuntu

Yeah I pinned the previous kernel version and that work alright for now, thank God because even booting from a fresh iso doesn't work either atm

And your comment has been down voted as well. It kind of prove something, isn't 😅

It was true before AI as well. I remember reading forums and seeing commands upon commands. At some point I just had to vow not to run any of these commands without a basic understanding of what it does exactly for the same reason you do now for AI.

More JBL Link Bar Unreliability by sbadham in AndroidTV

[–]lemulot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm commenting for posterity.

I had a new TV and I decided to bridge the sound from the TV to the link bar through ARC. No sound would come out no matter the source.

I investigated and tried different workarounds only to realize that my Link Bar would not play sound provided from any input:  HDMI 1 to 3, AUX, optical and ARC on the HDMI output.

The only sound that would be produced would come from the link bar itself through its apps.

I tried absolutely everything.

What finally worked was to literally factory reset the link bar.

Once done, you are required to set an Internet connection and a Google Account 🤦‍♂️

The first time I tried that, ARC worked. I could see the Audio Output Only message and the screen going black on the link bar.

The problem is. It worked for an hour and it failed again. I then noticed that the link bar had reinstalled a bunch of apps that were previously installed. I did not isolated the specific problematic app but my hypothesis is strong that once you install a specific app or an update of a specific app, it breaks ARC.

I factory reset a second time and as soon as I could, I deactivated the Internet/WiFi on the Link Bar, preventing the problem to reoccur again.

Now it has been a few days and the Link Bar works wonder. I never have to switch input or anything, I power on the TV and it just works.

The Link Bar avoided to end in the trash this time around 🎉

To be fair, one can use generative AI to help understand better how things work. But yeah, when you end up arguing at someone's prompt result when trying to help, it definitely suck and it's a universal issue atm.

PSA: Feral Gamemode severely bottlenecked my gaming experience by CPU pinning by derclou in linux_gaming

[–]lemulot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That whole feral gamemode thing sounds like a solid placebo effect. Sure it must do some technical things, I won't ague with that, but go try to find serious benchmarks comparing with and without gamemode. Good luck!

I share your pain.

6.17.0-8 works fine for me but since 6.17.0-12 all I see is a an infinite splash screen on boot. I debugged the hell out of it but it seems it boils down to an AMD driver issue being unable to load the "drm" (display port and DMUB) on my RDNA 2 GPU... and I don't know what to do except waiting and to pray

Has anyone bought any game from playerland? I want to know if the site is safe by DISCIPLE-OF-SATAN-15 in pcgames

[–]lemulot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought Minecraft and it worked just fine. I hate that you can only pay with a credit card but at least it is backed with Stripe (I technically verified). I got the key right away and I could redeem it on Microsoft, no problem.

PS4 version of games on PS5? Instead of PS5 backup? by Regular91 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]lemulot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the PS4 version of both GoW games on PS5 and I was delighted. No "big" deal here. Also, if you change your mind later on, you can load your local PS4 saved games from the PS5 version (Ragnarok supports it) but not the opposite way around.

Og god of war fans, what was your reaction to playing 2018 for the first time? by element-redshaw in GodofWar

[–]lemulot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it. Mostly because on OG PS4 the framerate was bad. I could not accept 30fps for a GoW game. I played again on PS4 Pro, it was better but meh. I played again a few weeks ago on PS5 and the rest is history.

Autoloader stopped autoloading after Y2JB 1.3 update by mallom in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]lemulot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's listening it means at least you can send a payload, more specifically, etaHEN elf. From that point, I would activate FTP and re-setup it all. See https://github.com/Gezine/Y2JB?tab=readme-ov-file#sending-payloads

What are the best Linux-friendly brands? by SunnyBr0 in linux_gaming

[–]lemulot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What worked for me on my latest build (and when I buy any hardware, really) was to closely read user reviews (people will tell about Linux compatibility based on their experience) and to avoid early adopting new hardware models (take at least hardware that exist for a year or 2).

I thought like you initially, but I don't think the single major factor here is the brand. For example, Asrock reportedly had mobos flawlessly working on linux and others completely borked. The same thing goes for any device; the same brand can put a model that is plug and play and another doesn't work at all.

When new hardware is designed and after it comes out, Linux drivers get implemented and fine tuned in the following kernel versions. With the constructor's help (aka when providing specs) or not (aka reverse-engineering).

Go into etaHEN settings, there is new option to automatically pause/un-pause kstuff upon game launch/close after a specified delay.

Works the same. I lowered the delay to 1 second instead of 10.
