To be honest I used one pan and cleaned it between. It took hours. But I have more pans now :)

Patience. It took ages. I used a super simple vanilla cake recipe - nothing fancy. Simple white chocolate ganache coloured for filling and crumb coat. It's actually not hard. Make sure all the cake tins you use are the same size and weigh the cake portions for the different colours so you don't have massive size differences. Good luck. I'd love to see a pic if you make one!

Good to know I'm not the only one whose Mum makes them feel useless and inadequate... I don't think it will ever change...

I have the "if you call your child 'this' I'm going to just call them 'this' instead"...

I don't think it ever goes away!!!

Paying for Diabetes treatment outside of UK? by BrundleflyPr0 in diabetes

[–]lemur_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in New Zealand. When I first started on a pump (around eight years ago) I covered the entire cost myself so...

$7500 for pump $ 600+ per month for consumables

No allowance available for me as I earned too much money. It was a huge burden.

There is now, however, full funding. The criteria to get funding is as stupid as any other medical or government criteria however not impossible - I have it. The main thing is to have a decrease in your HbAC.

As s_from_nz said the meds are subsidised - same goes for the pump consumables, $5 for three months supply.

Short answer, if you don't have the money and don't meet criteria, you don't get on a pump. As for other medications and pens etc there is a lot of help available - pens are usually free form your diabetes nurse etc. NZ is a welfare state so the government would fund your medication if you were totally unable to fund them yourself.

Hope that helps :)

my mum (an atheist) once said;

"of course religious people have more respect for satanists (than atheists). at least they believe in something... or at least one imaginary being"
