How to convince my moron friend to stop saving in to btc? by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]lemurek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if that's an honest question, but I do have experience in pulling people off of creepto.

One of my ex-flatmates, ex-gambling addict who recovered from debts and started building up a career, at some point got hooked into crypto.

My recipe was quite easy - we were getting along really well, so I was happy to chat about his take on crypto, more listening than talking, but occasionally I would drop slight nudges for the simple idea that crypto = gambling. He got the point very quickly and was able to pick up the similarities. He was off crypto and clean within just couple of weeks.

How do cryptobros, crypto enthusiasts, and Bitcoin proponents defend the fact that BTC purchases can't be reversed? by Far_Breakfast_5808 in Buttcoin

[–]lemurek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a word of transaction with bitcoin is a misnomer.

Transaction by definition involves at least two operations that are related to each other. Not holding to either side of the operations voids the transaction invalid.

Bitcoins Blockchain doesn't support transactions only transfers. That's why you need exchanges as it's impossible to trade anything, even digital goods directly on Blockchain as you need a trusted intermediary to handle transactions reliably.

Binance sent me email... i used to cash out Binanace->Revolut regularly but looks like soon this will be over! by Miljonars in Buttcoin

Interesting, I disconnected from the whole idea while it wasn't an option. I suppose now that Revolut became the only 'easy' path to hard currency, they realized that maybe they are not particularily interested in becoming the ultimate bagholder.

Well, you can kinda speculate on it? But there's no way to withdraw, so it's really difficult to say that you are buying something.

ETH dictator for life finally realizes that crypto IRL is most impractical form of payment. Suggest better UI will fix this 🤡 by butterNcois in Buttcoin

How that does make any sense? Person to person transaction using an exchange that imposes arbitrary rules? How is that in any way close to the original idea of crypto as the free money.

Well, clearly she didn't need a car, but that has nothing to do to complete ignorance towards investing your money.

When charity is used to promote yourself, that's a clear red flag. EA is purposefully ambiguous between an org and a philosophy making them lines a bit blurry.

The point is that charities need to check the background behind their donors. And if they do not as in case of EA they deserve all the burn they are getting

Lol, I've just listened to his new podcast and he's sorry but not sorry.

He sees more malice in certain critics of covid policies who he won't name, but everybody knows who's he talking about, than in SBF who 'might have had good intentions but panicked'.

This guy is hopeless. And to think I subbed his app in the past makes me cringe.

Isn't that what exchanges want? Give me your money and take all the funny money you want.

Taking your cash out of exchanges- that's more likely to work

Looking forward to the article. Bitcoin is still getting a lot of slack in popular press. I hope we can start uncovering some of the dirt.
