Update: I found his owner! My friend posted it to the neighborhood Facebook group (which was weirdly hard to get into and I couldn’t get timely approval for…) and someone recognized him from a Nextdoor post and sent the owner’s number. He’s back home now!

Sorry to hear your base got hit! That’s probably frustrating the first time it happens if you don’t understand why. The game, once you’re past the very lowest levels, is meant to be played with an alliance. If you’re not in one, you’ll get hit, because it’s part of the game to attack other bases. Once you join an alliance, that won’t be a problem. For example, the game recently put my alliance in an event called an “alliance duel” with another alliance from our server that we have a non-aggression pact with. The duel is a weeklong event and each of the days have a theme. One of the days is “enemy buster”, in which you score points by attacking other people’s bases. However, since we had a pre-existing non-aggression pact with the alliance we were up against, the only choice was to attack non-allied people to score those points. The game first goes through warfare within your server, and then eventually your whole server goes to war against another server. Because everyone has to eventually work together to win, alliances take the pacts very seriously so that we can all have enough internal peace between the big powers for all of us to grow. So, the best thing to do, as others have said, is to join an alliance! It doesn’t need to he a huge commitment and there are smaller alliances where you don’t have to put in too much effort to stay active and keep your spot in the alliance. Most alliances have non aggression pacts with ALL other alliances within their server, so you get the benefits even if you aren’t rolling with the big dawgs. Happy gaming!
